i read the sticky and tried the dxdiag acceleration fix but it didnt work.
here is my problem:

i have this microphone and it worked fine on my old computer. VOIP worked on my old desktop. i got a new laptop about a week ago and now ive noticed voip doesnt work.

ventrillo works, my computer recognizes my microphone and i can record my voice. however, the voipsetup simply doesnt register my voice when i talk into the microphone.

i assume its my sound card. there is only 1 port for the microphone so it has to be the right one.

i have a SigmaTel Audio card
when i purchased my laptop i bought the HD sound pack. this gave me an "audigy advanced mb" cd which i installed on my comp.

so...whats the problem? i play a lot and whenever i have a good commander who uses voip i like to use it back because i usually play helicopter with my bro and it helps if the commander spots enemy copters so we can sneak up on them. voip would help immensely...although i just use vent when i play with my bro, being able to talk to the commander would be nice too

voipsetup isnt recognizing my voice.

interestingly enough, even though EA says only the main sound port will work i always had the mike plugged into the front port on my desktop and never had a problem.

if it works on PC why would you even want to run BF2 on laptop ? I resally dont think your VOIP will work on lap top ( with game ) as BF2 reqwires min spesifications to run. What specs is your lap top by the way ?

my old desktop ran bf2 ok, but my graphics card fan died so anytime i try to run a game on than internet explorer.

my laptop is a dell e1705, a desktop replacement. BF2 runs like a dream. the only thing that doesnt work is voip.
specs are:
1 gig ram
2.16ghz intel duo core
nvidia geforce go 7900 gs gpu

i have the capability of running this game with everything on high and i dont have too much lag. i purposely put everything on the lowest graphic setting because 1: its not that big a difference and 2: maps load in about 1 minute compared to 3-4 and im impatient.

this laptop runs bf2 better than my desktop

why would ventrillo work but not the voip system in bf2? what is it about bf2 that is so goddamn picky about what kind of hardware it runs on?

edit// on top of this, it seems everytime i run the voipsetup.exe and try to "save settings" the program  crashes, so even if i did have  a working mike the settings wouldnt get saved...

voipsetup simply doesn't register my voice either, but it still works in bf2,
I think the setup program just is not working correctly

Whe are many on laptops with this problem. I heard a romour that BF2 cant handle the mic if its on a "onboard-soundcard".

Is this true ?
