Playing Transport Helicopter Taxi and Playing Airborne Squad Leader is wrecking havock on my K/D and Points.
Spend my entire time going back and forth, picking up troops, airdropping troops, getting repairs and dying horrible screaming deaths to Attack Choppers and Jet Aircraft. There is no love or thanks for the Taxi Driver I swear.

That's all.

Hey, somebody uses transport choppers like they are supposed to be used! Awesome!

I wish every round was like that.. they would be, if they changed the gattling guns on the BH to that standard .50 cal like in other choppers!

I once road with a BH pilot who was doing it by having people in his squad spawn and jump out, I joined up with him and our squads of 6 each used the BH as a mobile spawn station, flying 300 M over wake island and having people jump out.
10 people falling down on a flag is going to wreck havoc.

You have no clue how annoying that is, having people 300 meters above your base spawning on you again and again and again.. When i could actually be bothered camping for the attack chopper it takes me 5 mins to get up to your height, and then my gunner tv's you and i get a measly 3 points..
Not being funny dude but it only takes a bit of willpower and teamwork to get a black hawk down/damaged until he flys off, jump on a stinger site, go AT, get in a jeep gun and open up you could even use small arms fire so he knows he's being shot at as a detterent. However being killed numerous times waiting for chopper and running back there everytime and repeating this cycle 20x does not help you or your teams tickets.

its great when people use the transport choppers in the manner they are intended to be used... but it totally sucks when they have no concept of the gunner's view angles, and you simply cannot get a shot off becuase when something's coming into your sights they suddenly swing round and fly at/over something instead of alongside it... Also - n00b chopper pilots: loading up with a full complement of troops, and then taking off an crashing into a hill, taking everyone with them. Yeah, but what if he's so high you cant actually see him, but you know he's there I was playing chinese on wake island, and the shape of a helicopter kept appearing and dissappearing.
call it out on radar, get one of your flyboys to make it into toast.  transport helo's are jet bait.

except when n00b jet pilots crash into them cos they can't work out how to get a shot off properly... your'e better off hitting it with your rifle if you're assault - if its already damaged then half the time you can take it down all by yourself

You contribute to the team, which is great. Personally i always wait for helo to be ATLEAST 50% full unless there's havok on deck so i wait for 100% full .

But i must admit, don't fly it back, usually i land, take flag and blow it to smithereens (c4), så it respawns for next peeps to take

I fly transport choppers whenever I can, and when I do spot enemies, I turn and give my gunners the best firing angle I can manage.  Problem is, I can't always find good gunners.

I do also on occasion taking a scream dive at the ground and bail/parachute in order to destroy the chopper and then continue on land. I've done kamakazi runs on tanks that were defending flag points, with an empty chopper of course. I also land in unpopulated areas and fix the chopper since I am always engineer when doing Taxi Driver runs. But my god does it take a long long time to fix a chopper. Sometimes it feels like it takes longer than fixing commander assets. It pays to go to a helipad and repair.

BTW on Zatar Wetlands, I landed the BH on the helipad in the middle when it was MEC and I was US to let my gunners kill kill kill. I seem to remember it still fixing my heli.

Confirmations on Enemy owned Helipads fixing your choppers?

This is the reason your gunners should be Squad Members in your Squad. When I can get a good Squad that understands the value of VOIP, I talk to them. As the pilot they are to spot and direct me. If they need me to swing, rotate left or right they tell me. If I spot a target of opportunity flying in I tell them, "Infantry left near buildings." and then I fly in slightly banked to the left and to the right of the infantry in question.

It's all about a good team in any Helicopter when you want to take on Gunship duties. Plus you have to learn to really fly stable and slow when they are actually shooting at something. At the same time you need to know when to leave in a hurry. It's a very cool time getting to use the BH or Mig or any transport Heli in this manner.

BTW nothing is better than having an engineer in back who is on VOIP, knowing where to fly to have them drop mines out the back in front of oncoming tanks and apcs. Spec Ops work nice to like this. Such a nice feeling taking out armor with a transport heli. Just requires teamwork.

Nope. Even if I did they were on the miniguns killing enemy and not fixing.

Nothing sucks more than having crappy gunners that just don't notice things. If I could yell at anyone in the helicopter over VOIP (Which I wish they had this option to talk with people in your vehicle) I would be screaming at them to take out the damn FAV, or Humvee or Vodnik. And for god sakes I wish they would spot more often. It would be nice to know a tank or apc is coming in that I can't see before getting hit.

I did this once as an engineer without Voip, it was so much fun while it lasted! I don't know if the pilot knew or not, but he just zigzagged along the road long enough for me to drop 3 mines and get three kills... so much fun.

maybe there's a server variable then - I have landed on enemy pads just to see and nothing happened

I try to use it as a transport but people just won't get in.  I had one guy get in and ask(type) a request to take him to the OF Arttillery.  We were able to take it out.  I wish there were servers that forced everyone into a squad or made you be a squad leader.  That would be great.  Nothing like have 64 players and 20 of them on squads using VOIP.  Getting nowhere fast.

I've done this several times.  I've also done some crazy stuff in a BH when arty starts hitting the carrier.  One time, I was on top of that ledge (you know, where one of the F-35s spawns) and had the misfortune of being there RIGHT AS THE JET SPAWNED.  Then the arty hit, and , in my panic, I pulled a hard right roll.  I would have sworn I was done for, as I had pushed it over too much, and upside-down by the time there was nothing but the water of death underneath my chopper, into which the unfortunate jet had gone.  For some reason, I kept going and ended up doing some kind of barrel roll, as I ended up directly UNDERNEATH the platform, not having lost much altitude at all.  I was pretty shaken, and I wish I had been on a Battlerecorder server .  At any rate, after the arty finished, I picked up my teammates and kept both feet on solid ground until the round ended.

I double checked this today intentionally flying to an enemy helopad when damaged. It does NOT repair your helicopter. Oh well.. was worth a shot.
