I like older sports cars, especially the A/C Cobra and GT40, not the newer cars with all the fancy bells and whistles and electronic management. There's something that seems barely tamed about older sports cars, kind of like they're always on the edge of losing control.

My favorite car of all time would have to be the Ferarri F40 and of course, every thread needs more 1964 904GTS:

The one deciding factor would be the road conditions.

The Corvette would stay planted, the Saleen would smoke some rubber once those hair dryers spool up, lol, even at 100 mph....

Nice cars. I would prefer this:-
when tuned it can easily produce 900 - 1000 BHP - oh and its also affordable too.

No, but I'd take it over any of the other cars mentioned in this thread, whats the point of having a car that can go 200mph if it's as ugly as sin.

Anyway the speed limit over here is 70, go much over that and it won't matter if your driving a Veyron or a Mini.

Here's how I rate my cars from worst to best:

From Asia
From Europe
From USA (with Ford being the last place car company in USA)

I'm not sure if it's Aston Martin, might be TCR, but one of those companies has a car with a dozen cylanders... now that's a car worth getting!

Still prefer corners;

Check the incoming traffic...how nuts is that?

Could you post where you found those spec?  That's one heck of a Mustang and must be more heavily modified.  All the sites I looked at for a 2000 S281 rated it at half the numbers you posted.  Here's one:

http://www.maximum-cars.com/Cars/Car.php?carnumber=73

Year: 2000
Make: Saleen
Model: Mustang S-281
Base Price:  $28590
ΒΌ mile: 13.4 Seconds
0 - 60 MPH:  4.8 Seconds
0 - 100 MPH:  11.9 Seconds
Position: Front Engine
Configuration: Supercharged V8
Valvetrain: SOHC 2 Valves / Cyl
Displacement: 281 CI / 4606 CC
Power: 365.0 BHP / 272.2 KW @ 5000 RPM
Torque: 400.00 FT LBS / 542 NM @ 3000 RPM
Redline: 6000

The supercharged S281 does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and a quarter-mile in 13.2 seconds.
------------------------------------
Here's what the 06 Z06 can do.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/cou … vette_z06/

Engine  7.0 L/505 hp/470 lb-ft, OHV 3 valves/cyl V-8
Transmission 6-speed manual
Curb weight, F/R dist 3147 lb, 51/49%
Wheelbase  105.7 in
Length x Width x Height 175.6 x 75.9 x 49.0 in
0-60 mph 3.5 sec
Quarter Mile  11.5 sec @ 127.1 mph
Braking, 60-0 mph  104 ft
Lateral Acceleration 1.05 g avg
EPA City/Hwy Fuel Econ  19 / 28 mpg

So the Vette is already ahead by 1.2 sec in 1st gear.  And that's without a supercharger of any kind.

I looked for solid numbers on the 06 Saleen and all they had was a guess of 4.3 on 0-60.  The 05 goes 4.5 on 0-60.  http://www.fast-autos.net/vehicles/Sale … 1_Extreme/  So far looks like another win for the Vette.  And that's the stock Z06.  The Lingenfelter would eat the Mustang for lunch.

Corvettes, the poor mans sports car

Don't get me wrong, it is a beast. It's just complete shit as a daily driver.

Porsche still is the best there is in terms of value and quality. Once you drive one, there is no turning back. Anyway, for the price of a Z06 you can pick up a fully loaded Cayman S (and still have a few k left) or a used Carerra S.
Ok, you just called the Vette the poor man's sports car and said your Porsche is cheaper.   And slower by the way.

http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-2006-P … yman-S.htm

0-60 = 5.1 sec
So you're 1.6 seconds slower than the Vette.

The Carrera S is also too slow.
http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-2006-P … -Coupe.htm
0-60 = 4.4
So you'd still be almost a full second behind before the Vette gets to 2nd gear.

How bout a 911 Turbo type 997?  Sorry, still too slow.
http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-2006-P … -Turbo.htm
0-60 = 3.7
Top Speed = 193
And now you've spent 47K more than the Vette.

Even go for the uber Porsche the GT2.  Sorry, still too freaking slow.
http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-2006-P … era-GT.htm
0-60 = 3.9
But it will beat the Vette by .1 in the quarter mile and you only had to spend $440,000!
