What does capping a flag has to do with winning?
If you cap 17 flags and kill no one, while the enemy caps 17 flags and kill no one, no one will win!
The only way to win is to drain the opponent their tickets. You do this by
- Getting all the enemy flags allowing the ticket bleeding bring forth victory Something you have to do with a dedicated team; doing this alone is not possible.
- Killing the enemy and staying alive Something you can do on your own, and the sniper kit is the best choice here (not taking vehicles in to account)
So either you work in a squads try to capture and defend all the flags and remain at a positive k/d ratio with your squads; not impossible but it requires team play, thus dedicated players.
Or you prefer to solo bringing upon your enemy a massacre with a high K/D ratio as a ground pounding pilot ... or a sniper.
Both ways require a descent number of players to better the other team. But both ways contribute, only players like me that are walking talking targets should be kept in the barracks to make sure that their k/d ratio will not bring another loss to their team.
Striving towards a positive w/l ratio is striving for either a high k/d ratio or descent team play. But neither will make it possible to win a match solo vs 32, so it depends a lot of your team. The only thing it might reflect is your personal preference for teams with team play. Since people who like team play won't linger much in a team that exist solely out of sniper. Not saying that snipers can't be team players, but I am yet to meet the squad leader that can successfully combine sniping and running a squad.
