For some reason my win/loss ratio is always 1.  I've been playing for well over 300 hours now and in all that time they have never been more than 10 or so apart.

Given that my Kill/Death ratio is almost exactly 1 as well does that make me the most average BF2 player ever?

Win/Loss does not mean shit.  But you need to get some positive ratios with your hand held weapons.

Why does everyone insist on that.. win/loss is the most important stat of all..

A sniper that spends all his time on a roof and gets 17 kills per death but doesnt help his team is not skilled unless he gets 17 flag defends in the prosses..

just make sure your on the wright team when the teams are stacked.  Find some friends that you can play with regularly to get better team work that way you are more likely to survive gun fights.  Other than that figure out how not to die... avoid being nade spammed, flank, avoid arty and chopper/jets blowing you up.

W/L ratio isn't important to everyone. I could care less about mine too, long as im having fun and doing good in a round it doesn't matter if im winning or losing, im happy. Just depends on how u like to play, some players like to cap all flags and win the round after 2 minutes. And others like a good round that lasts 20 or 30 minutes. Personally id rather see more playing time than loading screen time.

Do you think W/L ratio is highly effected by your performance as a player in your team, when you have 31 other players in your team on a 64 player server? Unless you're Chuck Norris... no.

M8 your doing fine ,just remember to have fun whilst playing thats all that counts at the end of the day .Its all down to what YOU want from the game not what others EXPECT from you here .To some on these forums no matter how good you are your always a n00b .

Most players with high Win/Loss ratios aren't pubbing by themselves; they either have a clan or a group of buddies that they can work with to get things done. Mine's so high becuase of my clan and I.

Go on public servers with your m8s and NOT clan public servers as the do tend to clan-stack to get the win because it makes them feel all gooey inside .

What does capping a flag has to do with winning?
If you cap 17 flags and kill no one, while the enemy caps 17 flags and kill no one, no one will win!

The only way to win is to drain the opponent their tickets. You do this by
  • Getting all the enemy flags allowing the ticket bleeding bring forth victory           Something you have to do with a dedicated team; doing this alone is not possible.
  • Killing the enemy and staying alive          Something you can do on your own, and the sniper kit is the best choice here (not taking vehicles in to account)

So either you work in a squads try to capture and defend all the flags and remain at a positive k/d ratio with your squads; not impossible but it requires team play, thus dedicated players.
Or you prefer to solo bringing upon your enemy a massacre with a high K/D ratio as a ground pounding pilot ... or a sniper.

Both ways require a descent number of players to better the other team. But both ways contribute, only players like me that are walking talking targets should be kept in the barracks to make sure that their k/d ratio will not bring another loss to their team.

Striving towards a positive w/l ratio is striving for either a high k/d ratio or descent team play. But neither will make it possible to win a match solo vs 32, so it depends a lot of your team. The only thing it might reflect is your personal preference for teams with team play. Since people who like team play won't linger much in a team that exist solely out of sniper. Not saying that snipers can't be team players, but I am yet to meet the squad leader that can successfully combine sniping and running a squad.

Yeah, I hate when the round is over in 2 minutes, and you're lucky if you've engaged in one or two firefights. It's boring as hell.

Thing is no1 cares about winning a round. Or maybe not many any way. For most people its all about points and fun. And for me getting a great score with lots of kills is more fun than winning the round by just getting caps

K/D ratio above 1.0 is what I care about...been slowly grinding it up from .8 to 1.22xx.  One day maybe 1.3.

Winning rounds means nothing to me because unless everyone is in voice communication, it's a lost cause.  Spawning on squad leaders and following a somewhat organized group is the best you can hope for.

Ratio with rifles is what think makes you skilled or not.  I've been moving from the .8x range to .9x range since I started..tough stuff.  I'm not good at doing head shots within .5 seconds of seeing someone...i'm still trained to do center mass hits...and i don't know how to do that no look dolphin dive shot that everyone seems to do.  Amazing that i often die when people's weapons aren't even pointed at me.  I'd love to yell hacker or aimbotter, but i just don't know if that's pure talent, exploit, or a bot so i just suck it up.  It's a fun game..especially hunting down snipers that have killed me when i was not sniping.  So far, I've never let a sniper off the hook.
