i always use headphones 99.9% of the time and im using the onboard sound at the moment on my Asus m2n sli deluxe mobo, would it be any better to have a sound card in thier. would it help anything, i heard it takes away usage of the cpu but i have a amd x2 am2 5000

Probably wouldn't notice a difference unless you went out and bought some 5.1 speaker things.

Well i have a audigy 4 and its definitely better than onboard sound or the soundblaster live pos i used to have.

I also have a pair of Senniheiser PC155's so i guess the quality of your headset is also a contributing factor to the quality of sound bangin on your ear drums.

Yeh if you have crappy headphones or speakers its not worth it.

Also with sound cards you get what you pay for... so to really notice a difference you will have to buy a good one.
