Update: Added youtube video of kill, woot!Err, technical difficulties, adding video in a bit

So, you've decided to be commander in an infantry only game and you wish you had some arty to dish out. That button is greyed out though so what are you gonna do?? Don't worry, I have devised a solution for us all.

First things first, you must be commander for your team. Next, you must be an assault troop with any kit that has the grenade launcher attachment. (Yea, you know where this is going). Once you've accomplished these two tasks, pick a spot secluded from the main fighting scene, but with a wide, clear view of the battlefield. Wait for your supplies to refill and drop some supplies at that spot. Now hop on to your little box, and get ready to dish out some home made artillery rounds.

At this point, go into your commander screen, and zoom into the battlefield. Pick a spot that you want to start nailing with Nadetillery™. Any spot is fine, as long as there is a clear view from the commander screen. Go back to your regular screen and take aim towards that general area, fire a round, and quickly hits the caps key to go back into the commander screen.

Use your instincts and judge how high you need to shoot to get the range. If you've done it right, you should be able to see your shell flying through the air and hitting somewhere within your desired area. Odds are, you're gonna miss, so go back to your regular screen and fine tune your aim accordingly.

Remember, every time you shoot the recoil makes your sights go up, so be sure to compensate for that before shooting again. Also, the shooting is a bit inaccurate sometimes and you'll see that the shell goes off a bit to the side. No worries, you'll be having so much fun that a little BF2 coding inaccuracy couldn't spoil your day. Additionally, it's a bit weird sometimes to remember where you have to re-aim because of the nature of the commander screen. Just be sure to try and picture in your head what the shell did and translate that to your sights movement.

The range is actually pretty good. However after a certain height, the delay from firing to hitting is a bit too long so it might not be as useful. Just try it out yourself and you'll find out the capabilities I'm sure.

Repeat this as needed, and eventually you will be able to start getting some well placed Nadetillery™ shells right where you want them. I literally just started doing this today so I kinda suck at it. I only got 2 kills in my attempts, but I'm getting my shells closer and closer. I'm sure with practice you only get better. It's amazing what you can do with your time when you're confined to bed/chair rest for a few months after surgery, hehe.

I wanted to get videos up on youtube but I'd rather get some higher quality videos up so they are gonna go on my web server. So no streaming video this time, but trust me, it is SOOO worth it. Also, it is all raw, unedited video because I just don't have time to edit right now, but maybe later. So hit up my videos page and download away!

You should get like a squad with you and do this... 7 GL rounds raining on someone is gotta be a sight to see!

I think that's been suggested before someone. However, it was only 2 or 3 assualt, whilst hte rest moved forward to cap the flag under the squad provided arty.

And its 6 players to a squad, not 7.

He means the commander and a squad.

But only commander gets the battlefield view that makes this so much more effective. It's be awesome if squad leaders could get it too somehow.

But then again, you could just go into a regular server and use the real arty which does the same awesome destruction effect.

Yup. And with enough coordination (like them on TS) it could cause some destruction.. hotel on Jalalabad anyone?

Using the commander screen... pretty smart.

When aiming, you could place part of the aiming reticule over something. That way, you would now have to guess where you aimed when compensating for the recoil.

Which, incedentally, makes a truly awesome close quarter weapon against vehicles and infantry alike

That's a good tip. I gave it a try somewhat on my second run of nadetillerying, using a pillar as a sort of guide. You can see I land the shell right on top of that troop pretty well but the angle is crap. I got it on google vid as well, check it out. You can see effective range better now.

I also added a good kill video to the main post. It's a pretty long range hit.

I've tried that a couple of times but the other team would get wise to it pretty quickly.Especially since the GL drew a line right to my position.Nice idea with the aiming using the command screen.Didn't think to try that.I Never seem to have that much time in one position that close to the fighting.

Also you could try and do that with tanks if you're on those maps with a carrier and you're just sitting there with a tank as commander thinking "now what the hell do i do whilst my arty is reloading"

I've actually got a couple of carrier kills (shh, the server i go on says no baseraping) with tanks on Wake, i wasn't even commander.....infact, i've never been commander.

Commander can put waypoint markers on targets so the squad can tell where to fire.
