Update: Added youtube video of kill, woot!Err, technical difficulties, adding video in a bit
So, you've decided to be commander in an infantry only game and you wish you had some arty to dish out. That button is greyed out though so what are you gonna do?? Don't worry, I have devised a solution for us all.
First things first, you must be commander for your team. Next, you must be an assault troop with any kit that has the grenade launcher attachment. (Yea, you know where this is going). Once you've accomplished these two tasks, pick a spot secluded from the main fighting scene, but with a wide, clear view of the battlefield. Wait for your supplies to refill and drop some supplies at that spot. Now hop on to your little box, and get ready to dish out some home made artillery rounds.
At this point, go into your commander screen, and zoom into the battlefield. Pick a spot that you want to start nailing with Nadetillery™. Any spot is fine, as long as there is a clear view from the commander screen. Go back to your regular screen and take aim towards that general area, fire a round, and quickly hits the caps key to go back into the commander screen.
Use your instincts and judge how high you need to shoot to get the range. If you've done it right, you should be able to see your shell flying through the air and hitting somewhere within your desired area. Odds are, you're gonna miss, so go back to your regular screen and fine tune your aim accordingly.
Remember, every time you shoot the recoil makes your sights go up, so be sure to compensate for that before shooting again. Also, the shooting is a bit inaccurate sometimes and you'll see that the shell goes off a bit to the side. No worries, you'll be having so much fun that a little BF2 coding inaccuracy couldn't spoil your day. Additionally, it's a bit weird sometimes to remember where you have to re-aim because of the nature of the commander screen. Just be sure to try and picture in your head what the shell did and translate that to your sights movement.
The range is actually pretty good. However after a certain height, the delay from firing to hitting is a bit too long so it might not be as useful. Just try it out yourself and you'll find out the capabilities I'm sure.
Repeat this as needed, and eventually you will be able to start getting some well placed Nadetillery™ shells right where you want them. I literally just started doing this today so I kinda suck at it. I only got 2 kills in my attempts, but I'm getting my shells closer and closer. I'm sure with practice you only get better. It's amazing what you can do with your time when you're confined to bed/chair rest for a few months after surgery, hehe.
I wanted to get videos up on youtube but I'd rather get some higher quality videos up so they are gonna go on my web server. So no streaming video this time, but trust me, it is SOOO worth it. Also, it is all raw, unedited video because I just don't have time to edit right now, but maybe later. So hit up my videos page and download away!
