I know this is an old topic (although my cursory SEARCH turned up nothing), but I'd like to see what people think in general about the Battlefield series.
I'll start.
BF2 is the best for me. The flags are captured gradually, (unlike 1942, where you nervously stay until the flag abruptly changes), the guns are easy to get used to, and there is a wide range of vehicles. (GO Helicopters).
However, the guns have no "barrel recoil" i.e. your gun doesn't shake (see Call of Duty 2 to see what I'm talking about - the bullets always follow the sight, but your sights move massively). Thus, although you'd think that a PKM at close range, firing for a full eight seconds (standing up), would kill someone, this is not necessarily so. Also, the hitboxes lag.
