I know this is an old topic (although my cursory SEARCH turned up nothing), but I'd like to see what people think in general about the Battlefield series.

I'll start.

BF2 is the best for me. The flags are captured gradually, (unlike 1942, where you nervously stay until the flag abruptly changes), the guns are easy to get used to, and there is a wide range of vehicles. (GO Helicopters).
However, the guns have no "barrel recoil" i.e. your gun doesn't shake (see Call of Duty 2 to see what I'm talking about - the bullets always follow the sight, but your sights move massively). Thus, although you'd think that a PKM at close range, firing for a full eight seconds (standing up), would kill someone, this is not necessarily so. Also, the hitboxes lag.

before we start, vietnam sucked SO HARD it isn't funny.

Anyway, BF2 pretty much paved the way for BF2142, with all the physics and gameplay, but i vote 2142 couse it has alot of extras. BF2 jsut got stuffed after all the bunny hopping and lame-ass exploits (taken from somebody's sig)

BF2, but I liked flying the choppers more in DC.

I only played Vietnam a couple of times so I didn't ever get to know it, and never played 2142, but all reports are that BF2 is way better than 2142.

BF2 did have a troubled childhood though. Now there's alot of people that have a preference for this patch or the other which kinda takes away from how outstanding the game is overall.

BF2 - 'cos I havent played any others and I think SF is shit so just the normal. I havent bought EF, AF, F all really and Im not going to buy 2142 either.

bf2 was the best because it was modern day weapons and modern day warfare was so much more enjoyable..

1942 was pretty fun aswell i dident realy get into it much ..
2142 shouldnet even be up there it disqusts me (and is makin my grammar go right off the charts!)

Vietnam was the best simply because it was the most advanced of the series before stats got involved.

Seriously, stats have done nothing for the series other than generate a lot of behavior that makes your stats look great and everyone elses gameplay suck cock. A lot of cock. Big ones too. Ron Jeremy cock.

Seriously though, I loved Vietnam, the maneuvers you could do with those helicopters(mainly because they made it so that any noob could fly) were insane. Barrel rolls 30m off the ground, oh hell yeah. Not to mention the maps were so much more balanced and each kit actually had a roll. The lack of squads sucks, but ever since they got rid of squad hopping squads have been a joke in bf2. Oh, and you can dolphin dive to your hearts content in bfv. Sigh, I'm going to go play some bfv right now.
