you alos know that if you do overclock your CPU you take the manufacturers guarantee away and it also takes a few years of the CPU's life

It doesnt take the manufacturer garantee away because they have no way to know that you overclocked your cpu, all is set into the bios, not saved into the cpu.
But yes, it takes a few years of its life, but these days, we change hardware often, so it wont make a big difference.
Personnaly I oced my P4C Northwood from 2,8 ghz to 3,0 (omg..!!). I did this to reach the psychological step of 3
, but I didnt see a big difference and im not planning to oc it more because I dont feel I need it.
