It takes too long for the casual player to rank up. I have a decent SPM but I don't get to play very often (wives. hmph). It's been over a year and I am still trying to make Officer.
Plus I now have a PS3 that I have to find time for.

So again, HELL NO! Stats are a genius way to get people to keep playing (the only main reason I can't stop playing. it's addicting to gather points). But resetting the stats would be a sure way to lose 75% of BF2 players IMO.

my idea would be to have a 1 month leaderboard, new and fresh where all stats counted onto this second leaderboard freezing the old one til the end of the month

Wouldn't bother me, I think it'd be kind of fun with everyone running around without their precious G36Es for a few days. Wouldn't have to worry about the high rankers being assholes either.

Isn't there a "Up & Coming Star" leader board somewhere or something like that? Just follow that if there is.
If I get my own stats reset that's one thing but if someone else gets my stats reset that = anthrax in your mailbox

I don't care what anyone says, stats are what makes it fun for me. I like to see how I compare to other people & see who I'm better than & who's better than me, it gives you a reason to keep playing.

Man, if they did that, the leaderboard fags would have over 2 million points in less than a month.

Not to mention the tking for vehicles would drastically escalate.

Most of the 'leaderboard fags' can't get a decent kill streak to save their life. and those that can use cheap tactics, and as far as I'm concerned nade kills = 1 point + no streak bonus no matter what.
Vehicle TK'ing wouldn't increase. According to what I said, you have to get a reasonable amount of kills before you even start earning 2 points, for jets you need to stay up for 31 kills and in choppers youll need 20. Not that many people are capable of that, and if you're not you end up with less points. So it's a case of LEARN OR GIVE UP, a concept that many BF2 players failed to grasp, hence 1.2-1.4.
I also mentioned that armor would be treated differentely per map: on a heavy air map kills on the ground would be worth much more than normal. On a normal round of Kubra Dam, how many kills do infantry and armor whores have? not many. By rewarding all types of combat and also rewarding skill I can only see the leaderboards actually starting to mean something.

I do wonder why people think "the dirty point whores" would leave the game if this happened. Example:

Only a handful of points away from passing Volx to be #1 in Points, the EA police reset Kain. A folly all under his belt, as he was playing plenty of Knife and Pistol in the days beforehand. And since all the kids who actually use BFROE are the ones who think the Top 10 are God's gift to gaming, they saw him playin on K&P. Almost globally, a scream of "WTF?!?!? PADDER! PADDER!" could be heard. And so EA reset Kain.

Kain was angry now. He wanted to send all these guys to a gas chamber (kidding!). But he controlled his anger and simply played and played and played. Always a Medic on Warlord, on his clan's server, he quickly climbed the ranks and by October he reached the rank of Colonel. He has since moved on to 2142, staking his claim to be #1 for points on there too.

im not surprised at all. i wouldnt want stats reset. not because i would have buttsecks with my rank (i think that would be more pain than pleasure) or because stats are my life, although granted i probably spend too much time on my bf2s page than i should. i dont want them reset because i feel my stats are a kind of personal achievement, and i am reasonably proud of them. i have been working on them for the past year and a third or so, and would be a shame to see them go. and if there was a reset, there would be no way i would be any higher on the leaderboards than i am now, so i wouldnt see the point in that, for me at least. there will always be people better than me and with more playing time.

I dont like the whole idea of stats being wiped because i put 1000 hours into this game. I would hate to see it all go away. I don't care much for stats but if they were to do something like this, i would be slightly annoyed. Maybe instead, lock down the accounts and make everyone start a new one? That way you could at least look back and go "ahhh, i remember how i got that medal"

Bad idea imo.
