I'm a Captain 91000 Points so far and I would say yes. It's all about skills. If you care about your stats getting reset then you obviously these are the main reasons why you wouldn't want your stats reset:
1) You want to have buttsecks with your rank icon.
2) You will be laughed at because you just suck.
I would be in for a reset it would be nice. Although stats-padding would become a problem then again. Actually forget it I'm not in it would probably fail. If not then I would be in.
No, if you want a fresh start on the game start a new account.
HELL NO!!!!!
Just start a new account if you want that. Who cares about the leader boards.
It takes too long for the casual player to rank up. I have a decent SPM but I don't get to play very often (wives. hmph). It's been over a year and I am still trying to make Officer.
Plus I now have a PS3 that I have to find time for.
So again, HELL NO! Stats are a genius way to get people to keep playing (the only main reason I can't stop playing. it's addicting to gather points). But resetting the stats would be a sure way to lose 75% of BF2 players IMO.

Many people will stop playing BF2 if EA reset their precious stats I'm afraid And I don't think that BF2 would be played by people long enough to see them with high ranks again.ssonrats wrote:
Well here's an interesting poll.
I personally would approve of the stats being reset, new leaderboards to climb. I think you would have more to play for again just like back in the day.
I think that the lower ranked guys will be against this idea though, but you never know!
As for me.. I never was 1st (or best) in anything.. and never will be. I can start from 0 anytime (create new account), I just don't bother. Stats reset wouldn't change anything
Wouldn't bother me, I think it'd be kind of fun with everyone running around without their precious G36Es for a few days. Wouldn't have to worry about the high rankers being assholes either.
I would like that idea. Competition would rise, and possibly teams would have to work all over again.
All the point whores will move on, and the rest would probably stay.
Almost.

Isn't there a "Up & Coming Star" leader board somewhere or something like that? Just follow that if there is.
If I get my own stats reset that's one thing but if someone else gets my stats reset that = anthrax in your mailbox
I don't care what anyone says, stats are what makes it fun for me. I like to see how I compare to other people & see who I'm better than & who's better than me, it gives you a reason to keep playing.

Most of the 'leaderboard fags' can't get a decent kill streak to save their life. and those that can use cheap tactics, and as far as I'm concerned nade kills = 1 point + no streak bonus no matter what.
Vehicle TK'ing wouldn't increase. According to what I said, you have to get a reasonable amount of kills before you even start earning 2 points, for jets you need to stay up for 31 kills and in choppers youll need 20. Not that many people are capable of that, and if you're not you end up with less points. So it's a case of LEARN OR GIVE UP, a concept that many BF2 players failed to grasp, hence 1.2-1.4.
I also mentioned that armor would be treated differentely per map: on a heavy air map kills on the ground would be worth much more than normal. On a normal round of Kubra Dam, how many kills do infantry and armor whores have? not many. By rewarding all types of combat and also rewarding skill I can only see the leaderboards actually starting to mean something.
No, thanks!!

I do wonder why people think "the dirty point whores" would leave the game if this happened. Example:
[N)@(M]Kain. A quiet German boy. Once one of the highest ranked players in the game. One fateful day in June 2006, this all changed. Only a handful of points away from passing Volx to be #1 in Points, the EA police reset Kain. A folly all under his belt, as he was playing plenty of Knife and Pistol in the days beforehand. And since all the kids who actually use BFROE are the ones who think the Top 10 are God's gift to gaming, they saw him playin on K&P. Almost globally, a scream of "WTF?!?!? PADDER! PADDER!" could be heard. And so EA reset Kain.
Kain was angry now. He wanted to send all these guys to a gas chamber (kidding!). But he controlled his anger and simply played and played and played. Always a Medic on Warlord, on his clan's server, he quickly climbed the ranks and by October he reached the rank of Colonel. He has since moved on to 2142, staking his claim to be #1 for points on there too.

I play the game for fun. I love it. But I also enjoy the whole stats system and earning awards and ranks.
Its nice to do. To lose 800hours and all that, well, I suppose hard work would actually really piss me off.
The leaderboards are biased anyway, who gives a damn about it?
Id hate to suddenly lose it all, however, at least that way I could just whore up EF and have Great Wall as my most played map with EU as most played army

A very incisive comment. I was all for it until I read this. Imagine being able to compete with everyone on an almost even basis. You could just choose a kit and go for world top twenty and have a realistic chance of doing it.cheshiremoe wrote:
I think that a reset of everyone would encourage people to quit playing or stat-pad... and thinking about that makes me a sad panda.
But chesh is right, it would only encourage people to stat pad to be number one.
EDIT: To the guy above with 800 hours... I've got 300 hours and 30000 points on my first account and at times I wish I had them... I'd be 800 points off of lieutenant colonel by now... by my stats are now a better representation of my abilities, and I am a proud statwhore. Although, after the last 200 hours or more of IO, I should start another account as I feel I've lifted my running game a few levels.

I have to admit i'm quite suprised at the poll's results, most are in favour for the stats to remain, i thought it'd be much closer.

im not surprised at all. i wouldnt want stats reset. not because i would have buttsecks with my rank (i think that would be more pain than pleasure) or because stats are my life, although granted i probably spend too much time on my bf2s page than i should. i dont want them reset because i feel my stats are a kind of personal achievement, and i am reasonably proud of them. i have been working on them for the past year and a third or so, and would be a shame to see them go. and if there was a reset, there would be no way i would be any higher on the leaderboards than i am now, so i wouldnt see the point in that, for me at least. there will always be people better than me and with more playing time.ssonrats wrote:

While Reseting all stats sounds like a good idea, It doen't change the players abilities besides no unlocks. So you would still be playing the same people in the same way. IE nothing would change.
I dont like the whole idea of stats being wiped because i put 1000 hours into this game. I would hate to see it all go away. I don't care much for stats but if they were to do something like this, i would be slightly annoyed. Maybe instead, lock down the accounts and make everyone start a new one? That way you could at least look back and go "ahhh, i remember how i got that medal"
Bad idea imo.

I would be all for a reset. I would thoroughly enjoy the posts that would ensue. I'm sure there would be lots of rage, destruction, and perhaps some E-suicides.(I would not find the e-suicides entertaining-disclaimer)
