I was playing on a Dragon Valley map server last night and kept getting TK'd. After the third one, I got booted for the above reason which I will have to paraphrase.  "Reason: For Punishing for unintentional Teamkill."  Now, I generally forgive unless I actually see someone pull the 'trigger'. I may have missed the 'page up' button in the hurry to forgive and forget.

First off, I assume there was not a differentiation in the punishment type. In other words, a punish is a punish. You punish and move on.  So I speculated that I may have punished an admin.

Second, why have the FF on AND a goofy rule like that. I rejoined the server and watched the text scroll by at the top. And low and behold, it was true. People were getting warned for punishing for TK! And I saw others getting booted after the warning, too. IMO, the FF should have been off.

Third, how the poop can you tell if the punishment was intentional??? I thought it was up to the TK'd player to decide if the punishment should be given out. Why does the Big Brother server get this sanctimonious overriding action? Like I said above, I may have hit the wrong button but hard cheese! That is not the servers right. And the punished player can start a "kick" vote (although they rarely work).

Fourth, if you say "Sorry" from the rose thingy, does that negate this action? It would go like this: TK; 'Sorry'; punish for TK considered intentional???

OK. Now your turn.

Well, if you don't like it, don't join it. However, the admin can usually tell if a TK is intentional or not just from the weapon used. Obviously, being teamkilled by a knife is intentional, whereas being killed by a hand grenade isn't. Oh, and no, saying "Sorry" doesn't fix it.

Having FF off fixes most of the problems on maps like wake island, I wish there was more servers with FF off.

Ummm, no....I get what your saying but really its WAY easier to TK a teamate with a knife then a nade....Just don't nade spam and you won't TK with nades, knifes in close quarters can hit a teammate easily enough...

It wasn't punkbusters (I.E. wasn't automated) the game can't tell intentional from un-intentional, it had to have been an admin decision.

You can be auto kicked for punishing though, servers have a "punishes before kicked" option if I'm not mistaken, so if you have punished to many team kills you may be kicked (to prevent forced TK's I'd assume)

Having FF off is ridiculous, people throw grenades blindly enough as it is.

Dude, you totally missed what I wrote. I did not get kicked for a TK. I was kicked for PUNISHING for an TK I received! I know you can get vote kicked or admin kicked for a number of reasons but that was the first time I was kicked for punishing some other idiot. I think I missed the button during the round.

And yes, not joining the server is the typical canned option but I wasn't banned. I was shocked that that actually happened.

VicktorVaugn: Thanks for the comments. I figured the PB just had a generic "insert reason for kick" option for the servers. I was wondering how specific the PB could be for kicks. It seemed odd for the PB to kick for a punish.

As for  the FF on/off, I don't know which evil is lesser. The more I play the game, the stranger it gets.

For me at least, I wait to see if they rez me and/or say sorry.  I'm usually a medic, so if they TK me, they can usually rez me right quick with my kit.  Now jets that bomb me and failed to take out a single enemy...they get punished.  Other than that, I try to be conservative about when I punish, so I don't see a problem with a server making sure people keep their forgive/punish ratio close to 1-1.
