Okay.. So whenever I boot my ram usage meters say that my system is using 30 % of my 4gbs of ram... a couple hours later it always goes down to like 17ish... Is there any way I can make it boot at 17% usage?

It starts at about 45-46 and even when it's running at 18% usage I have 46 processes... It's weird.

Turn off all the flash of vista. Run classing windows settings and wham, its like running on speed. I know it wouldn't be oh so Vista anymore, but thats what kills your RAM on startup, loading up all that flashy nonsense. My laptop HAD your issue, up until I disabled all that trash. I mean who needs it?

And yeah... startup items as well, always gotta think of those Vista or no Vista.

In windows defender you can change what "starts up" when you boot. Just go to search and type startup.

Indeed, but as you can see Vista users have a bit more clarity when using this tool through control panel. It is MSconfig, just a fancier version.

Nor does it require a reboot after making the changes.

Oooh... nice... does it do services too? and does it give enough info on each service to tell which are safe to disable?
