Okay.. So whenever I boot my ram usage meters say that my system is using 30 % of my 4gbs of ram... a couple hours later it always goes down to like 17ish... Is there any way I can make it boot at 17% usage?
i dont think soo im not 100% sure
how many apps are running at start up compared to later? dont know what else you could check, maybe it just hogs it at start up...
It starts at about 45-46 and even when it's running at 18% usage I have 46 processes... It's weird.
go to run type in msconfig then go to startup and delete all the programs that you do not need
im not running vista so i dont know, i wish i could help u though

Turn off all the flash of vista. Run classing windows settings and wham, its like running on speed. I know it wouldn't be oh so Vista anymore, but thats what kills your RAM on startup, loading up all that flashy nonsense. My laptop HAD your issue, up until I disabled all that trash. I mean who needs it?
And yeah... startup items as well, always gotta think of those Vista or no Vista.

In windows defender you can change what "starts up" when you boot. Just go to search and type startup.

Indeed, but as you can see Vista users have a bit more clarity when using this tool through control panel. It is MSconfig, just a fancier version.killinzero1 wrote:

Nor does it require a reboot after making the changes.

Oooh... nice... does it do services too? and does it give enough info on each service to tell which are safe to disable?Kmarion wrote:
