Using the same logic the gun grabbers use should all students who apply for visas be put through rigorous background checks and be subject to electronic monitoring at all times while in country?

I think so.

They should have to pass a background check, and that’s all.

Using the same logic gun lovers use, why take away everyone's opportunity to study just because a few people have misused it?

Obviously, this is going to be less controversial now, so, sure.

Poor logic.

Foreigners and immigrants usually don't kill people. Guns usually do.

How about the 477,040 victims of gun crimes in the US last year? Edit: it was 2005, not last year

This argument to constantly monitor students is silly. It's just a redneck trying to justify his racism. A thorough background check is already mandatory and seems to be working pretty well. Besides, the goverment's too busy monitoring the mail and phone calls of its own citizens to have the time to monitor foreigners.

How about you get some half decent gun laws ay. How fucking piss poor is it that in the state of Virginia you dont  need any background checks or a licence to own/buy a gun?

Fuck you right to bear arms, the price you pay for it is just rediculus. You have a massacre every 5 years and then say; "No, it our right to own a gun!" Its more or less spitting in the face of the families who are victims in these shootings. You seem quite happy to pay this price.

All I can say is: "WAKE THE FUCK UP!"

for the love of that is holy, arn't they? if not then yes; its just a given that everyone has to go through a back ground check ie criminal records, the immigrant would happily to do so it if he/she has nothing to hide.
and yes i agree with Pubic on that, for example i recall the debate on the Canadain-US border security. For Canadians who travel between the borders everyday it became a hassle to get passports and along side with the tighter security to enter the states, and then when Canada tighened her border gates and demands the US visitors needed their passports, some of them bitch; all i say is irony.

Why not electronically tag everyone? Why limit it to foreigners? Can we tag the millions of American tourists that come to the Republic of Ireland every year (even though 40 million Americans are actually Irish)? What about us tagging the US military when they use Shannon airport as a refuelling point on the way to the middle east?

no, people kill people. guns don't think and they don't discriminate. point them and pull the trigger and a bullet comes out regardless of who or what is on the other end.

You nicely add up to the list of poor logic;

The use of cars is transport.

The use of guns is ... (don't fill in hunting please, I don't know what the exact percentage is; but of all firearms it will not be more than 10% that is suitable for hunting)

It would be nice. But as was said earlier, might as well tag all Americans seeing that it could of been a local. This country is hurting right now but it will heal, it always does. And foriegners will continue to come because America is the best. Even though we don't look so "good" to the rest of the globe people still want to come here. Go figure.

It does sound like a fairly pathetic suggestion. Surely given all the prior evidence it's the US citizens that should be tagged, not the foreign students. They shoot way more people.

Sporting/Collecting?

And to the comment that guns kill people, that is completely wrong, as, like already said, people kill people, but if you have to say something else, I'd do it like Chris Rock: Bullets kill people. Guns without bullets are as effective as stones (or Rocks ). And you can't forbid the owning of stones, can't you?
