That's probably what they need. You notice how the countries in ME all have very straight borders, unlike Europe? That's because Europe's were formed naturally, through years of violence, whilst those in the ME were artificially imposed. It's no wonder they have troubles.
Of course, you missed the point of my post entirely. Westernisation means surrendering local values and replacing them with foreign ones. Of course it will be met with stiff resistance, and will probably never work. The point is there's more than one way to skin a cat, and the same goes for liberalisation. What they need is to find a version which incorporates their values and history, not ours.
