mythbusters showed that mobile phones might not necessarily be the cause of explosions, but still I wouldn't use mine, and cigarettes?!? thats just asking to die. An open flame with that much vapor around? great ideaScorpion0x17 wrote:
True enough. However I've also seen them stay at the pump, and then get their mobile phone out of their pocket and start to use it, or worse still - a packet of cigarettes!buLLet_t00th wrote:
Nobody in the UK ever leaves the petrol pump. I dont think I've ever been to one in the UK that you can use without having your hand there (unless its a HGV pumping station). Anything can happen while you are away from it.......always stay next to it!!
Petrol stations have PA systems for one reason and one reason only - so the till-jockeys can shout at complete idiots that think sparks/flames and petrol vapours make for a good mix...
Anyways, I say we ban static electricity. Anyone in the DC metro area should remember the days of the DC sniper. I think anyone would be damned if they were gonna stand around in the open pumping gas with two individuals driving a "white van" carrying a sniper rifle.
