I've heard from a few sources that the 8900 GTX is planned to be released this month. Can anyone find any information of this? I'm buying an 8800 GTX this month, and if it goes down in price due to the 8900 GTX release (which it will), I need to know.

Any help is appreciated.

Not coming out according to Nvidia, they're gonna just skip to the 9 series.

Maybe around early 2008 or late 2007 if were lucky, but I think Q2 2008.

I think they will wait at least until September for the next card (G90). That will probably be around the time we see the Radeon HD 2950 XTX and HD 2950X also. No one really knows right now.

Screw it then. I was gonna wait since I still need to buy the vid card for my new rig, but if it's coming out in 2008 forget it...

Thanks guys. Karma for both.

I've already sold one of my C2D rigs.  I'm going to use my laptop and my other C2D system for now.

Maybe next year, I will do a major build.

This past year, Intel and Nvidia have been making serious moola with new stuff coming out, especially late this year to mid next year I predict.

I doubt anyone would buy any new ATi cards unless they cut down the physical size... But do you really think the 9 series gonna come that early? I'm thinking around maybe October and November.

October is more likely. Sept was probably a month optimistic. It depends on the market. Remember the closer they launch together the more competitive the prices will be.

They scrapped after the HD 2900xt turned out to be a paice of shit. The new gpu is gonna be G92 not G90 thats the old designation for the 80nm model, The new one(G92) is gonna be 65 nanos.

A thought...
And I understand it isn't the BEST solution if you have the cash, but wanted to through it out there to possible help your options..
You might consider buying a cheaper card to tide you over until the new ones come out... I know a lot of people that did that with the 6800-7900 jump... Buy a cheaper $100 (but still good, like the 7900) card until the 8800 has its drastic price drop... You may end up spending just as much in the long run, but it would be for 2 cards instead of one, meaning you have a backup in case something goes out, or you can ebay to get a little bit of the cost back...

Just a thought... If you have the cash without a problem, no real reason to wait... Gratz on the new rig!

Usually Nvidia bring out the top of the range cards of a new series just before Christmas so Mummy and Daddy can go out and buy that. Then a couple of months after that the second tier cards come in. Dont see why they would change that now.

p.s. I just got stung by a fucking hornet. Ouch!

From what i understand the G92 should be late in the year before christmas, it's been suggested that this launch schedule will be repeated, but i don't think so.

Wow, troll much? You're a real prick.

I bought the majority of my system with my own money from selling MY OWN THINGS and birthday money. But for the GPU I have no more money left to spend and my dad said he'd buy it for me for graduating this year.

Don't generalize just because i'm from Long Island, dickhead. My parents are divorced and I live in a 3 room ranch.

At 15 many good jobs are hard to come by, especially around here where immigrants are holding most of the small ones. I will have a job in the summer and pay back some of the money since my mom put a loan out for me of 300 bucks for a monitor/heatsink/sound card.

Don't talk about things you don't even know, asshole.
