Wahhabism eh? So what about Saudi Arabia? How comes Bush walks about holding hands with them? & even though the majority of the 9/11 hi-jackers came from Saudi Arabia, why isn't the might of the US military rolling in there?

It's funny, but it seems like this is the same conflict that Christianity went through a while back.

For a couple centuries, Christian forces did their best to conquer various cultures and convert the masses.  Islam went through a period of that as well.  Yet, this kind of mentality is very subdued among Christians today.  I wonder why the 1-2 % are so violent among Muslims....

Well yeah, but again, the Crusades were a long time ago, so I don't see how that relates to modern Muslims.

*nods*  I agree.  It's sad...  but then again, I'd say America's response is a lot more lenient than if the reverse happened.  You can imagine what would happen if there were several white Christian extremists blowing up buildings in Saudi Arabia.  I have a feeling your government and society would react a bit more harshly.

By the time the Crusades finally began, Muslim armies had conquered two-thirds of the Christian world.

Well, I'm atheist, but I've always thought that the creation story was metaphorical, not literal.  I mean, if God (or Allah, etc.) had tried to explain evolution to people in ancient times, He would have lost them completely.

You can imagine the look that would have been on Moses's face after the conversation...  "What the hell?"   LOL

Well Musharraf, he did some good for Pak, and he did some bad, mostly bad, he is a dictator, but because of him, our previous corrupt govt. has fallen. the govt. backed MQM had riots in Karachi and killed a whole bunch of ppl..since then I dislike him. I like him some way, because he led us in the Kargil war of 1999 and we achived some success, that man has dedicated his life to my country, plus because of him ,extremism is being stopped. unlike the older days, when the Taliban were supported by our govt.

Not at all, i keep an open mind

Note that another key difference between Al Quida and the Shiite insurgents is that the Shiites just want Western forces to leave Iraq.  They have no interest in flying over here to attack us on our own soil.  Al Quida is interested in attacking various nations and goes to the trouble of making attacks inside these countries.
I just happened to see an old Bin Laden video the other day. Quoting the Greek translation, he said: "For America, only a few words: You will never feel safe as long as you keep meddling with Palestine, and as long as you keep forces in Arab lands."

So maybe it is true that Al Quaeda goes to the trouble of taking the fight to the western world, but their demands seem to match those of the Shiites in the sense that they want nothing more than to be left alone. I don't know if anything has changed ever since, but in that statement and at that point in time, Bin Laden seemed satisfied with that. Of course he talks about the Arab world and Palestine, which is much more than just Iraq, but still.

Well Allah after time created everything, animals, land etc. so over thousands upon thousands of years, slight changes have occured due to the genetics of man, Bengali's have great hair, because they eat alot of fish, brown people are brown because of our location on the planet, it all is interlinked... you had me there for a second.

True...  I see similarities there, but I think it's better to be on the safe side and kill groups like Al Quida.  At least Muqtada can be reasoned with.

I guess my point is...  evolution and faith aren't necessarily in contradiction with each other...  It's all a matter of interpretation.

I figure if I was religious, I'd see science as discovering God's laws.

What about the caruncle in the Human eye (that little reddish-pink fleshy substance on the inside corner of your eye). It is left overs from the  the reptilian eye. Reptiles have to see in fresh water (which can be irritating when it interacts with the salts in our body), a clear lid covers their eyes. Since humans don't need that flap to live in air, we lost it through evolution, and it became the remnant that we have today.

Yikes.. going off topic
