Just wondering,
Cos my Dell (yuck) mobo sucks i cant upgrade to Core 2. Buying a new mobo would probably mean a new case (Dell have dodgy form factors, so a new ATX mobo probably wouldnt fit) and would all cost too much money.
So, since i play around with VMware a bit, ive noticed that despite my processor (Pentium D 830) being advertised as 64bit, it doesnt support 64bit hosts. But the Pentium D 9xxx have the magic VT technology that should let me run 64bit hosts.
Whatcha think?
Would i see any performance increase generally? I notice the 9xxx have 4MB L2 (830 has 2MB), are 65nm and ofc have VT.
Worth an upgrade?
