Well, you have to remember that Christ also was probably not born on December 25th. Christmas was first celebrated on this day to supplant Saturnalia. Christ was likely born in the summer or spring, since a manger in the middle of the desert at night in winter would be cold as fuck. There would be little chance of an infant surviving in those conditions, and it would be very uncomfortable (to put it mildly) for even an adult.
So, the history of Christmas seems a bit strange anyway. In a technical sense, the first celebrations on December 25th had nothing to do with Christ either.
