Honest question. If you're so concerned about taking the Jesus out of things then why not just say happy holidays?
lol - you think people use Xmas instead of Christmas for (anti)religious reasons.... what paranoia!!!

People are lazy - Xmas is shorter - Simple as!

...and how is this fitting for DST?  It wasn't atheists who came up with Xmas.  It was just a generic abbreviation that was first used a long time ago.

I know aethists who still celebrate Christmas. Wouldn't it be silly for them to leave the Christ in Christmas? The commercial version of Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus anyways.

This comes out every year. And every year there must be those of us to point out that there isn't some conspiracy to destroy Christmas (or Xmas) by replacing letters. That's a pretty heavy conspiracy there. It's an abbreviation, let it die.

Well, you have to remember that Christ also was probably not born on December 25th.  Christmas was first celebrated on this day to supplant Saturnalia.  Christ was likely born in the summer or spring, since a manger in the middle of the desert at night in winter would be cold as fuck.  There would be little chance of an infant surviving in those conditions, and it would be very uncomfortable (to put it mildly) for even an adult.

So, the history of Christmas seems a bit strange anyway.  In a technical sense, the first celebrations on December 25th had nothing to do with Christ either.

This may be how the December 25th Christmas came about.
