Well, I realize I'm probably confusing in how I switch mindsets over time.  For a time, I was fiercely Libertarian, but now I'm a combination of many viewpoints, depending on the situation involved.

To me, it looks like this race was dangerous to begin with, so why continue the race when terror threats are involved?  If the threats were serious enough to call off the race, it sounds like the authorities have some investigating to do.  Hence, better safe than sorry....

Pussies. They should have the rally anyway. Total fucking wimps. Do they call off the New York City marathon because of a couple of muggings? No.
Thats because most of the participants in the race are running from muggers.

LOL...

But with that rational, the drivers could all be driving away from terrorists...

Looks like there might be a solution.

Apparently, the Chilean government and the Chilean tourism board will be sending an official proposal early next week to the Dakar's rally organisers, Amaury Sports (AMO), suggesting South America as the new Dakar location
Many other countries have also thrown their hat into the ring to host.

I think this is good, The race still goes on and its a big "FUCK YOU" to the terrorists. Brings more money into underpriveleged countries too.
