For 2 weeks mice have been bothering me to no end every night. Constantly waking up to hear inadvertent scratching which I just can't kill. It's as if they are too smart for traps!

Well not anymore. Firstly, put some poison in my bin and sure enough it was all for it. It was so thirsty it ran straight out the door into one of the traps. Great. One down.

Today, a baby one (yep...they've had children, now they are screwed) ran into the living room. With my brother armed with a fire shovel (mini one for an old fire in our house), he whacked it hard. I then took out what I like to call "the stabber" to ensure its death.

Sorted. Tea - pizza! Yum, peace for an hour. I then go to the toilet and sure enough another mini one runs out of the bathroom. I had no idea where it went. I checked my room. Sure enough, there is was. Me and brother surrounded it, it found its way into the back of my amp. After a quick boot, it jumped out straight into an array of traps. It was still alive when it was caught. So that's outside freezing to death now.

Now, 3 mice later, I've barracaded the bottom of my door in hope they don't get in so I can get some sleep. I'll know if they are in though and my brother has done the same and is experiencing the same problem. These mice, one way or another, are going to die.

k..!

I've never been able to kill mice. I'm a HUGE animal lover and I can never kill an animal. Ever.

You bastard, Kyle.

My rat, Bowie is going to sail to Ireland and kill you in your sleep.

True. I just don't get how people can kill mice/rats themselves. Poison, ok. It's a less violent and painless death. Rat traps + STABBING (lskdfnskjadfn) are just painful.

Poison would hurt it more. It crapped all over my floor - EVERYWHERE - today. This particular poison makes it so thirsty it tries to drink its body fluid, dehydrates and dies. I have no problem killing it, to be honest.. but you love your rat - so that's okay! Just hope it doesn't...bite...

Edit - I hope you don't eat meat! I'd never eat anything I wasn't prepared to kill, and I think that's a healthy attitude.

Edit 2 - Apparently, mice usually have 10 "mini mice" as I call them. We may have killed both the parents, at least one, so the mice may not even bother us as they will have no idea how to get food etc.

You sir are raving mad. I can visualise you shirt ripped open, blood all over you and the house, with ''the stabber'' in one hand, fire shovel in the other, teabagging dead mice in your house. You should go get some sleep right now. +1 for making me laugh though.

Your imagination is ... sick and twisted?

Poisoning is a BAD idea.    Ever smelled a couple of rotting mice?  It reeks even through walls.

You want them in a trap where you can dispose of them.

I'm sure it was dead within a matter of minutes. -3/-5C now.

I'm not a savage person by nature, but I've had enough of just laying some traps. 2 weeks is way too long. I've had enough.

Poison can take up to two hours to fully work (at least for this one..) and it was eventually stuck in the trap, so I disposed of it into a rather large outside bin. No bad smell here Just a miniature mouse (5cm minus tail)

They use  Warfarin to kill them, it thins their blood, so when they cut themselves their blood cannot clot/congeal. They bleed to death. Did you know they use Warfarin on Heart patients? Useful info overload.

A rat equivalent of platelets? My brother was hospitalized for weeks due to platelet issues (at one point he was done to 6. Yes. 6. {average human has 250-400})

Yeah he has 240 or so now so pretty much fully recovered apart from a few allergies now! Anyway, I'm off to bed. Hopefully for a nice night's sleep.

When I was in college our fraternity house was infested with mice so we would spend the entire winter killing those little bastards and I can tell you that nothing beats the fun of shooting them with a BB gun.  Just bait them out with something smelly like peanutbutter and when they are feasting smoke 'em.   Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out

We had mice in our garage once, i think it was depressed though as one day we went in and found it floating face down in a bucket of water that  was also in there. Now they just live in the compost heap, you open the lid and mice pop their head up and look at you. Its awesome especially as it scared the crap out my mum when she first discovered them, due to surprise not phobia.

My dogs too big and powerful for cats to even bother trying to get into our garden anymore so its a mouse haven, well so long as they don't get too fat to hide from the dog.

The poison we use for the rats in our attic is completely painless - plus, they take the poison. They don't die in your attic. That poison sounds freaking painful. Ugh. This topic makes me wanna punch babies in retaliation. :S

Well, I have mixed views. I'm not opposed to hunting IF the person eats the meat they kill. Sport hunting and killing for no reason I'm 100% against. I do eat meat because of the reasons said. We eat the cows/chickens/etc. Not to say I don't feel INCREDIBLY bad for the cows, but that's just how the food chain goes and we need protein in our diets.
