I pretty much have the same advice as the other guys who say drop flares immediately.  If you get locked and flare as the missiles are en-route, you will probably get hit at least once.  Always flare immediately and then either take out the AA, or get away from the lock by flying away from the firing line.  I personally have rear view bound to my space bar, so if I don't see an AA missile flying around after I've flared, I switch to rear view and look for the source (you can usually see the missiles fly past you and figure out which point it is).  Also, if someone gets in an AA site, it disappears from the map & minimap.  When they get back out, it re-appears.

Anyway, lock-based AA takes zero skill (especially mobile AA) in terms of the firing action (point, lock, fire) so even a cabbage can kill you using mobile AA, or even static AA if it's being used from a point that you own, or if they hop on it when you're otherwise engaged.  AA is all about positioning (in mobile AA) and timing (in static AA), so once you get used to flaring immediately, you need to think more about situations & positions.  Once you become aware of all of the positions & lines of sight, you should be able to pre-emptively waste the suspect AA sites before you get locked by 'em (e.g. on sharqi you should be able to hit the hotel, surveillance and tv station AA from a variety of positions & heights).

I personally like to use .50 cals on choppers because I'm in charge of whether I hit them rather than some random number bullshit.

I don't have anything that hasn't been said before, except that I'm more skilled than you, your team, my team, your team's AA, and the other 6.5 billion people on this big round thing.

Oh, wait.

I think mounted guns are more dangerous - if you're damaged at all then any vehicle that has line of sight can take you down before their guns overheat and without warning.
Ya .50 cal are a pain in the ass. I've been playing a lot of Ghost Town and I got that map figured out well for where AA is, and where mobile AA like to hide back in uncaps.

But with the fog on that map...a vehicle that starts hitting me can become a major problem fast. If I know its somewhere close by, I instantly get altitude over him so he can't target me, do the circle of death, and fire off a couple rockets. But, if he's away off the only hope you have is to take cover around a building. Thats hard to do in the Hind, but so damn easy in the Apache.

Just hit flares and do barrel rolls, or anything that drops you down while doing it, if you need me to show you what type of spins or anything i'll be glad to show you ingame of course

Also remember to keep moving. Flares don't really work if you're just hovering there.
