I got a machine like that here as local Sybase and web server. With a bit more RAM tho, but that's not the great expense.
I agree, do the first part of what he said. Pentium 4s are new enough that it would be a waste to shoot them up. I still use a Pentium 4 machine as my main comp because I can't afford a new computer.HurricaИe wrote:

Hell, I would gladly take one of those machines myself if you don't mind, that Pentium 4 is better than what I got and I can just transfer everything else over to that one from mine. I can't upgrade the processor in my current machine any more so a salvaged one from one of those comps would be no good to me, I would need the entire machine.

- With a multi-CPU board make a really powerful computer

I could go on forever. These computers have huge potential. Most people just fail to see it. My bedcomputer, for example. Athlon 1600+, 1GB RAM and a GeForce 6600. Works nothing but wonderfully for browsing the web and watching some movies on. There's no need for more power than that for those kinds of applications. I make over 1000€/year on selling stuff that's even slower than that. Just a month or two ago, I sold a P4 1.4GHz with 512MB RAM, 20GB HDD and a DirectX 7 graphics card for 160€ to a guy who wanted something cheap for the mail.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

If you don't have enough space for 80+ computers, you just do what Freezers says and get some multi-CPU boards,.. imagine what you can do with ten octo-core PC's!

You could set up a cluster. That would be so 1337!
If you would manage to find or build a mobo which allows 80+ CPU's to be plugged into it, all you' need were some 80+ SLI cards and then perhaps you could actually run Crysis!
Send me 2-3 of those over here, i could use them to host server and such!

Try contacting your local school board, depending on where you live, and how funded your schools are.. this could give a lot of kids the chance to use some decent computers..
They could probably even arrange to pick them up or something too if they really need them.
