-3.2<camera/video recording
-mp3 player not essential but would be nice
-looks good
-different
-price ... <£400

Unless i'm being stupid the 8800 has no camera?
Nokia N82 I'd say

Or the soon-to-come N78

I have an AT&T Tilt (Made by HTC, don't know model number), and it's alright. The hardest thing to use on the damn thing is the actual phone, especially if you don't have the number you need to call on your contact list. It's a bit slow at times, and once did something very similar to a BSOD (it uses Windows Mobile), but other than that its a pretty good smartphone.

Or the LG Viewty - damn, that phone is lovely. Best phone out there at the moment, in my humble opinion.
(Best camera, gorgeous GUI and just a beautiful and highly functional phone)

You're right that the 8800 does not have a camera.

LG Viewty is the best tbh Why? I have one

But to help you out a bit
LG Viewty:
- Sexy phone
- 5MP Camera
- Video Camera
- MP3 Player
- Divx player
- Internet Acces
- Email
- Download Service
- Calling/Text messaging (Doh?)
- Touchscreen
- The phone headphones are seperatable from the phone connection cable, you can connect any sort of headphones, even your PC headhpones
- FM Radio

But it does have a few downsides

- Memory only expands to 2 GB (Unlike the N95 which goes up to 8 GB)
- Battery runs out quiet quickly IMO (6 hours of calling time)
- Camera and MP3 player don't work at the same time
- Games and MP3 player dont work at the same time

Even still I think its a damn sexy phone

*gets on Pyro outfit* - iPhone? Only thing it doesn't have in that list is video recording and the camera is 2.0MP!

And no, the 8800 has no camera.

A phone that you cannot even install a third party app on, is NOT a smartphone,, it is bricked
You are truly uneducated when it comes to this. Listen, I'm not big fan of Apple either, but they really hit the gold mine when they released the iPhone. You CAN install 3rd party apps, I don't know what you're talking about. Check here:

http://www.apple.com/webapps/

There's even a guide on how to make your own.

The iPhone can do everything any other smartphone can and more. It has internet, a great camera, customizable voicemail, an awesome MP3 player that works in sync with the phone, crystal clear sound quality, a built in music store, and it's all out just generally cool. What do other smartphones have that the iPhone doesn't?  The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is FM Radio, but nobody really needs that anymore anyways.

Plus, it now goes up to 16gb (which I'm getting next month) and probably 32gb in the future.
