Looks fishy...
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

The 3Dmark06 score doesn't impress me at all.

Disappointing.

Wow, my 8800GTX would outdo that 3dmark06 score if I had a better CPU.

What's your current score, and with what CPU?

Meh, I'll wait until the 10 series.  I've waited for a while, so another year and a bit won't hurt.

Mmmm, not suprising, think everyone is expecting that huge jump we saw in 7>8 again, which simply is not the case.  I dunno what is going on at nvidia, am not sure what there stratagey with this is, but, it certainly isnt enough to tempt the majority of (in the know) 8800 owners (particularly the GTX/Ultra) guys.  So, I find myself wondering, wtf are they doing.  Perhaps the complaicency (SP) of beating ATI for so long settled in?  Whatever the reason, nvidia aint impressing at the moment as far as am concerned.

Looks like its R700 I am waiting on

Well personally, I expect a new generation of hardware to be substantially better than the previous generation. Otherwise, in my opinion, it is quite a waste.

Usually they have new features and what not but not the performance gain that everyone wants.

EDIT: Sydney, is your CPU overclocked? I doubt you would see a ~2000 difference with just a better CPU.

I think nvidia is making trial and error cards now with the newer gpus and will sell the monster cards in fall/winter season.

THAT'S A 3DMARK03 SCORE

big fucking deal.

the high score right now for 06 is around 30k, that's with a purpose built system, a quad core clocked at ~6ghz.

will this mean the 8 series will be cheaper?

Click on the link at the bottom of the article, the 06 score is over 14,000.

No, it just means that store will still sell 8800s at their current prices until they're out of stock, then order 9 series cards to replace them.

If this:

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php … ;card2=548

Is correct, then they can fuck right off :\

Well then, depends on the price, but it's still kind of strange to claim a whole new series of card with such a pifling 'improvement' that, apparantly, you could do yourself at home (unlike the 2900XT>3870).

9800GTX
Texture Fill Rate:    37800 MTexels/sec

8800GTS 512
Texture Fill Rate:    41600 MTexels/sec

So, the so-called midrange last-gen card has a bigger fill rate than the so-called high end next-gen card.

This card is not even worth the title of "8800GTX G92". nVidia is going shit.

I'll do the same thing. I am more than happy with my 8800GTS 320.
I won't upgrade before they release the 10 series.
