Hi!
I pulled a muscle in my shoulder (or perhaps several, idk.) at badminton training today. thing is, I need full use of it for tomorrow for a tourney. And it hurts like a bitch when I smash. Any suggestions for a quick return into commission?
Thanks much,
TSI

That may help the soreness, but honestly it would be wise to not use those muscles for a week or two, especially not in badminton.

Ok. Got it. that and ibuprofen will be picked. I unfortunately don't have a choice in the matter. it's a do-or-die thing.

Ibuprofen is more of an anti-inflammatory, while Acetaminophen (aka Tylenol) will help get rid of pain.

You choose which one you think fits your needs.

You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.

Badminton?  The only cure for a shoulder like that (I'm assuming you straightened, turned side on, then swung with your shoulder extended downwards, or would have in proper technique) is rest.  It will hurt for the next two days (or one if you're lucky), but there's no avoiding it.

However, you won't be doing much smashing like that.  Try more defensive shots (lob to opponent's rear left ideally).

Ok done. The tourney went well, we achieved more than we had hoped for. I took some advil and a heat pad, no pain whatsoever. I did however slam my head into the bench on the side of the cort while diving...but I've got stuff for that.
Thanks all round for your wonderful help guys.

I am a Badminton champ.  Anytime anyone is in SoCal and wants to play, I'll set a match up.  Seriously.

Badminton?  Nice!

I would say to try Epsom salts but it seems it's already over...
