TBH I wouldn't recommend anything below 8800GT unless you are on a tight budget.

It's an OK mid range card though, definately way better than 7300.

Well, what is your budget? For mid range I'd say 9600GT, for mid-high I'd say 8800GT and for a bit higher budget than that the 8800GTS 512mb (the #1 card today IMO)

that card is fine and not to expensive... just make sure everything fits... u know PCI-e motherboard etc and if you have enough room in your case... becase 8800 GT is quite a bit bigger than a 7300

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

das what you guys are talkin about right?
You need to check exactly what RAM your mobo supports - those that you've linked to are SO-DIMM's which are different to DIMM's (DIMM's are longer).

You also may be able to go up to 2GB just by adding another 1GB - depends what you've got already and what your mobo supports.

And, be sure your mobo supports PCI-Express 16x.

Actually, what motherboard do you have? and what current RAM do you have installed?

Download Everest Ultimate trial edition
http://www.lavalys.com/products/downloa … mp;lang=en

And in the program, go to Motherboard > SPD

like so:

Then, just get more of the same brand, that should give you the best results.

Maguire - I prefer Sandra to Everest, but either way, grab some screenies from either of them and post them here .

PBAsydney - is general mobo info (like make and model) under Motherboard->Motherboard in Everest?
(Maguire - that's what we'll we need to see, along with the RAM info as PBAsydney describes above)

OK, cool, as I thought you need DIMMs not SO-DIMMs.

Now, you've got a few options with the RAM - you've got two spare slots, according that info, so you could get two more 512's, but, if I were you I'd get either http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6820146526 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6820146568 (the second set are faster, but either will be fine) or similar.

Then, you can install them into the two spare slots and you'll have a total of 3GB - if it works OK (some mobos don't like you mixing sizes) - or you can take out your 512's and just have 2GB - if they don't work together.

And, from a quick google, it looks like you do have a 16x PCI-Express slot (can anyone confirm this?), so the video card should be fine - assuming there's space in the case - you might want to check with Dell on that point.

The one you linked to (http://www.buy.com/prod/evga-geforce-88 … 09495.html) should be fine - though note what I say at the end of my post (after I edited it).

If you plan on ever upgrading anything: Don't buy a brand computer, compile it yourself.

How much room is in your case from the bracket of the PCI-E slot towards the front?

What cpu do you have? For a not-so-win one, 8800GT is overkill.
