Well.
I can only speak for my industry. My God. What a difference. Save your karma, this isn't meant to solicite sympathy.
Two years ago I was almost guaranteed 2k per day in sales, now we go entire days without calls. I used to average about 20k in the bank, and at the moment I have about a thousand dollars, and my mortgage was due Tuesday.

I have fared far better than some of my competitors who have either gone out of business, or are hanging on by a thread with 1-2 days of work per week, but the situation has me reeling. There seems to be no good answers as to what to do about it. We hunker down. We go off the radar as far as payroll taxes. We become deadbeats on some ( most ) of our bills.

This is the most miserable business climate in my lifetime. And all the while, gas goes up every day. Milk prices have almost doubled and empty headed state senators from California are trying to ramrod a one dollar per gallon tax increase on gas.

It seems like they will not be content until they have broken our backs.

I don't understand how things have turned so hard so fast.
What in the hell now?

Guess this is just more of - that it's not really a recession - "growth."

PS: The money supply is in a state of severe contraction. Expect it to get worse. It will. Everyone I know - that works as a President or Vice President, in every fortune 500 company I am associated with say the bottom of the credit crisis has yet to be realized.

The illegal mexicans can replace you and do your bussiness cheaper than you can because the cost of housing is much less in Mexico, umm I mean your job is one that Americans are unwilling to do like landscaping and construction.

Ok, now take a deep breath and repeat after me " My bussiness was built on the housing industry which is now collapsing because it was spurred on by unrealistic prices and mortage policies.  The house of cards that Morgage companies Preditory lending policies were built on is collapsing and you and them are left holding the bag.  The Dems and Repubs agree on the plan to fix it, but it somehow doesn't include helping you, but will help the person holding your Mortgage by spending your tax dollars.  I am still gay on a democratic robot even when I know he is bought and paid for by the financial institutes of America. The economy is in a recession, a state of contraction, not an over-arching social economic depression. Of course some areas and certain professions will be be affected differently. Every loan and/or issuance of credit is an expansion of the money-supply. Fractional reserve banking allows money to continually re-enter the economy. It keeps the hustle & bustle of our consumeristic/credit based system going; expanding. But, it has consequences and this is just one of them - when the (money-supply) balloon expands faster than it should - it can collapse that means that money becomes more scarce in the totality of the system - as loans are called-in & new-loans are not made.

Oh, I see.  You are competing with the federal governments welfare payments in an area that few mexicans travel too to fill in the void left between the "wtf work for what you can get for free and livable wage" area.

Good luck with that, remember your only choices on the ballot are all the same choice.

I will not vote for McCain, even at gunpoint.

So, I will likely cast my vote for Obama if he makes it. It's complicated. I have my reasons.

I would think you would go for McCain first just because he hasn't been taking money from the usual suspects and he at least paid for the sins of bad politics in Vietnam so he would be a wild card that might actually push for reform of the Republican party.  Hell, Republicans hate the guy because of McCain Finegold and such.

I don't understand your thought process on this.  I can't believe the shit that has been nominated by each party.  I have even thought about writing in Ron Paul just to protest the Republican party.

I don't know, do you think I am missing something with Obama because I know you aren't the type just to vote for someone based on YouTube videos.

It's about his Kennedy/McCain amnesty bill.

Obama is the real wildcard.

So you'll vote for a man who takes his money from the biggest banks in America, who also are major share holders of the Federal Reserve?

When looking at Obama's connections to big banks, McCain's connection to the war machine, and Hillary's connection to Walmart and pharmaceutical companies, it really seems like we're screwed no matter who gets elected.

Then again, when you consider all the back scratching necessary to actually run for president, you can hardly expect anyone running to be ethical or without shady backers.  Money ultimately means more than votes in this system, and to make matters worse, that money is often our tax money when it comes to what is being used to subvert the interests of the people.

Yup, that's how you have to play the game unfortunately. But even if they don't have sinister intent, those special interest groups and corporations now own a part of their soul. They would be stupid to bite the hand that feeds once in office.
