- Is Russia a threat or it's just taking advantage of its resoruces?
Poll
Are Putin and Russia a New Threat?
They are a threat | 25% | 25% - 23
They are just taking advantage of their resources | 43% | 43% - 39
Both | 30% | 30% - 27 | ||||
Total: 89 |
Russia is defending its interests, as all countries do. Brazil is having a similar problem with Boliva, from where we get a good percentage of our natural gas. Its part of the game...

Its there gas,I assume we'll just have to deal with it!
I hate that our politicians have to kiss their ass. Most of our oil is imported from Russia, as far as I know. And now they're thinking about starting to buy electricity from Russia. I would like to know how they think it's a good idea since Russia is known to use it's exported resources (gas, oil, electricity...) as a political weapon.
Europe gives as good as it gets. We're not getting preferential pricing over China and co. so we're pissed off.
As much as the Chinese and the Russians hate each other they might strike up a trade alliance in my opinion.
They can defiantly not be called a new threat, Putin has been in power for a while if I remember correctly.
I'm more worried about Pakistan than Russia... Putin is still a shady bastard though.
Yea, the Pakistani people are not to happy about there government killing off fellow Muslims.Turquoise wrote:

The main thing that is disturbing about Pakistan is how Musharraf really doesn't have much control over his country. He assumed leadership through a military coup, but there are still regions in the west that are basicially run by terrorists. I think he did the right thing in blowing up that madrassah, but then again, I'm cool with him wiping out all schools that produce extremists. If that's what it takes to eliminate terror, then it must be done. By various accounts, Pakistan is one of the most corrupt nations in the world, and I suppose that means a little population and extremist control must be implemented. It isn't going to be pretty, but basically, Musharraf is doing our dirty work for us.Commie Killer wrote:

Russia is systematically killing journalist who have been critical of them systematically jailing wealthy business types.
They are killing the journalist who speak out because they are up to something bad.
Be afraid, be very afraid. Not a new threat; they just woke up from a nap.

And they killed this spy guy in London with some sort of radiactive poison. I agree with ATG, they took a nap and now they are back.ATG wrote:

Yeah it just happens to be that all critics end up dying. And of course they're going to deny it. They're not exactly going to confirm it jeez.
and their army is still probably running off of 1/4 rations.
Wow, thats a step up probably. Russian governments do not have a high respect for any of the people.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

Thalium, one of KGB's most used poisons. I think they pioneered the use of Thaium as a poison.sergeriver wrote:

Brazil gets screwed over by the US so often, it isn't even funny. I mean, check the Visa's for example. The US are now charging extra for Brazilians. Ridiculous...
Yay, and now with Democrats in office who will not support any military build up.
I take that back, this is from June 2005. Around the same time this was published:
