What's the best way to speed up "verifiying client data"?? My spec's are AMD Athlon Barton XP2500+ 1837MHz,
120Gb Samsung Spinpoint 7200rpm harddrive, GeForce 6600 256Mb graphics card, 1Mb RAM, 4Meg broadband.
I turn most things off running in the background before I start BF2. I a pain in the backside waiting.
Also how do I take off all the "beginning crap" when I load BF2 in ? I want to go straight into "logging on"

Aside from more memory and a faster processor, the only thing I can suggest is defragging your hard drive.

Might be the same problem i have, my hard drive is getting old and making loads of errors. Ever since patch 1.3 i wait around 5-8 minutes to load any map, and its always still loading 'something' 10 minutes after i join.

get 2GB of RAM and ull be fine i used to have to wait like 10mins to load, but oddly it seemed to stop when i got my new gfx card...which is the same as urs

Secondly, this site also has a very good guide about tweaking your computer in general. It's a very big guide though so you might want to just read the bits you want.

Thirdly, best way to decrease verification time is more RAM. Although with my 768MB of RAM and following the above guides i verify quite quickly (i also use settings that is easy on RAM (Low texture, lighting) but not so easy on the video card (AA, AF etc..))

Try defragging, also if you have another hard drive, put all of your entertainment on that. I got a new one yesterday on Black Friday sales and freed up a good 60+gb on my main hard drive. That way Battlefield 2 could run a lot smoother, I also defragged Thursday night so my hard drive is in tip top shape, I have very low loading times, and I only have 1GB RAM

Never dowload torrents to the drive where system is installed. Thats very important.

And to remove the videos at start up go to
programms/EAGAMES/battlefield2/mods/bf2/movies
than rename the EA.bik, Dice.bik and Intro.bik and the game will skip them
You can also rename the Legal.bik but Ive heard that occasionaly it can cause problems.
for example EA1.bik etc

This is also supposed to speed up the game...
