Elections can always be rigged, and you have to consider the poor education system in Russia.  It's not like the average Russian is well-informed in an environment where the media is heavily censored.

Vladimir Putin, from what I gather, hankers for the days of old. This is evident in such symbolic acts as reintroduing the old soviet anthem but in other more meningful acts also. He has ruthlessly and viciously crushed legitimate demands for autonomy/independence in Chechnya. He exerts his influence over neighbouring nations like Ukraine, Georgia and Belarus, effectively holding them to ransom. Then we have the dubious imprisonment of Khodorkovsky and the killing of Litvinenko. Putin has Russian interests and only Russian interests at heart. He cares nothing for anything that stands in the way of a Russia that is 'great once again'. They deserve no trust whatsoever. There won't be a cold war. The west just needs to watch it's back and make sure they are not reliant on them at all.

You fail . Yes , we all get less beeing average worker  then european or us ones , but not a 200 bucks . I worked on my summer vocations and got 400 $ \ month . And I'm not quolified worker .

He has ruthlessly and viciously crushed legitimate demands for autonomy/independence in Chechnya.
Cameron , I respect you , but I dont get why are you comparing Chechnya and ( as far as I understand ) your Ireland ? They are two way different stuff . Chechnya was indepent cince 1996 till 2000 . And what is was ? A nest of Al Queda & other arabian terorist fuckers ( you know who fight against Russian Federation there ? More then 60% are arabian mercenaries ) . Drug line between Middle East and former USSR countries . It must be controlled by Russia , btw , it is it's part for more then 100 years .

I did a little research on Russia's education.  You're right...  For a Second World country, it's actually pretty impressive.  The literacy rate is high and there is a high enrollment % for secondary education among the general populace.  I was correct about the media, however.

Why do you defend Russia being yourself from Ukraine?  I mean, is Chechnya a real threat for Ukraine?

Thalium, one of KGB's most used poisons. I think they pioneered the use of Thaium as a poison.

Correction: It seems the exact radioactive isotope isued is not yet clear. The are talking of polonium now in the news.
Yeah it was a substance called Polonium-210, and they are now testing customers of a Sushi bar in London, that Litvinenko (the former spy) visited on the day in which he was taken ill.  Obviously some kind of Russian department knocked him off.

Here are a some news links I found regarding the story.

Holy cow someone shoot me. Cam, i agree 100% and then some. Putin wants to and probably will bring ALL of russia back under one country. Anyone that has been following this guy the last few years can see that. It will happen, along with there alliance with Iran and the sheep countries of the ME that choose to follow.

well, I guess the same could be said about GWB and the US in general. Maybe the methods are a bit different, but military action for political purposes and using ones natural ressources a political blackmail ain't nothing new to the US either.

As long as Europe makes sure it doesn't depend 100% on US gas/oil, we will be fine. Russia has lots of ressources, but it also needs someone to buy those. Our economies are too dependant on ech other to allow a Second Cold War. We just cannot afford it.

That is the major difference to the Cold War. These days, we all do business with each other, regardless of political systems.

Putin wants to be taken seriously, that's all. Give him the respect his nation deserves.

I'd welcome the russians waking up and going nuts... the muslims hate them EVEN MORE than they hate us.

Besides, I understand the russians... the way they think, the way they act.  I can't say the same for the muslims.  At least the russians aren't an enemy that's  FUCKING NUTS!  And our army works much better against a nice slow mechanized force on land, air and sea than a bunch of goat fuckers in caves.  After 6 years of muslims, I realize just how spoiled America was during the 70's and 80's.

Of course they're a goddamn threat. They've just said they're pointing nuclear missiles at european cities! If that's not a threat, I don't know what IS.
Particularly because all the 4-minute warning does is give me time to find a nice view of London going up before the shockwave and radiation kill me.
