OK, I've pretty much had no problems up until now.

All of a sudden, when I'm on TS or Vent, My mic will record the output even though I have headphones. So, when I'm playing a game WITH HEADPHONES, they complain they can hear my in-game sounds. If I go to the test utility on vent, My mic records everything that is going on inside my headphones...

Before anyone starts:

Yes, I have headphones (lol)

I have the latest realtek drivers

My computer's the bee's bollocks...

Mmmm off top of my head you will probably have something set to record the wave out mix.  Will check it out in a bit, but for now make sure tht isnt happening so it can be ruled out.

Make sure the input device is your primary sound capture device which should be your mic, and obv the output device is correct to.

Turn the 'recieve volume' further to 'shout' (on ts) so then the mic only picks up the louder sounds: ie your voice.

Yeah, that's only for TS though. Never used to have the problem before, so why should I rectify anything? Just really hacks me off coz the sound loops back as well, louder each time. Did you say you were going to look into it for me, that'd be great.

(No, St. Johnstone for me)

Firstly, installed any new audio hard/software?
Is it only on the one ts channel? (I had a problem not the same one, with only the one ts channel)
I still think it could have something to do with the wave out mix been picked up by your mic.
Do you have the ts set so it always sends what you say, or is it only sent when you press the send button?

About not changing anything.....  My mic desices on a daily basis to alter is own volume setting so you may wanna check that out.

Check in the control pannel under sound and audio devices inside voice that play back and recording are set correctly, in my case there both the same, however every so often one seems to change to my web cam and I get truly horrific transmitting quality.  Also check the volume tab and see what 'wave' is set at.

But probably the most easy thing you can check is that in recording the volume setting, microphone is checked off and not line in or anything else there.

Last question, is it a head set or a seperate mic you have?

I found the problem thanks to Martyn here.

You told me to check the input volumes, and so I did. In seeing microphone listed, I also saw Line In, CD Volume and Stereo Mix.
I'd never heard of Stereo Mix, so I muted it. No more problems.

Thanks martyn, that's saved me a lot of googling

And good luck with your new PC in 2007

This may sound stupid, but if they can hear you, set it to push to talk.

No, no, no.

I said that they could hear what I was hearing through my headphones when I was talking to them. The signals from the output were getting recorded by the input.
