No religion in schools. A child should discover his or her own faith. Be it Christian, Muslim or Athiesm. A child forced to believe in something can become a radical or can go overboard on it. Choice in what the child wants can greatly influence their life. Schools should teach history and not something that cannot be proven 100% factual (the bible for example).

Religion should be taught in school to prevent ignorance. However religion should NOT be preached.

It would be nice to have a World Religion class in school, where the beginnings and histories of each religion are taught, so people can be more informed when talking about certain religions.

That being said, the practice should not be condoned in public schools anywhere.

The place for religion in school is... in the trashcan on the schoolyard.

Afterschool religion class... fine.
Forced religion class... not cool.
Teaching religion in science(!!) class... DOWNRIGHT STUPID! They need to kill whoever thought of that...

I think that it's ok to teach it in an optional class. The high school I went to had a class about world religions that would just teach you all about the different religions and their views. It can be a nice thing to know for some people. But in required public classes I don't think that they should.

We have a religion class throughout school, and I must say, it is extremely benefitial

Although my school is catholic, the RE class doesn't try to impose christianity on you, you learn how religion is alike, you learn morals, decision making, things like that, and learning from the new testiment

In no part of it do we learn how we are all going to hell or you must follow jesus if you want to be saved ect, we just learn lessons taught from the bible.

I have a somewhat biased NO!

In years 7 to 10 at my school RE is compulsary. The 'teacher' who gives the classes is a Christian who shovels that religion down your throat. She gave some lessons on other religions, only to end up mocking them and comparing them to Christianity...

EDIT: I might as well add that a group of us got out of RE in year 10 when an RE period took place during a Science period. Our science teacher allowed us to play games work in the science lab. The RE teacher hated it...

Religion has no place in this world, I consider it the greatest evil ever inflicted upon mankind.
