i know that gun sounds and looks cool and can instantly kill a person wearing light armor with a shot on the torso...it have a fancy scope too...but it only has 3 bullets in a magazine and deals the same damage(AFAIK) to people with heavy armor...so whats so good about it?


edit: oh and it can disarm mines and C7s and etc.

The scope is ridiculous, you get 1 head-shot kills on pretty much anything. As long as you are carefully placing your shots, so that the target is dead (rather than being injured and seeing a red 'he's over there' bar on the screen), you won't even get spotted. What more could you want?

you are talking about the 4X scope? How is that related to the topic which is about the gun?

You have to get the 4x scope in order to unlock the Zeller. So comparing a 'virgin' recon kit to the decked out Zeller, you can pull 1-shot kills from the other side of the map, as opposed to 2-shot kills at 100m. The fact that you are out of visual range usually means you can take your sweet time lining up a head shot for a 1-shot kill.

Being able to keep your ass 2km from the guy you are shooting at goes a long way to keeping you alive longer - there is not much other than arty or another sniper that can hit you at that range.

The explosive disabling ability is so useful for my gaming style, it's the only weapon I use. Other than that, the other rifles are pretty much the same.

BTW it does more base damage against any infantry. Which means Zeller will deal more damage on heavy armored target compared to default sniper rifles. Therefore, if an infantry is damaged by any chance, there will be a good chance that the Zeller will take down the target with one shot.

Its all about preference. Some like having more ammo, some like having higher chances.

I actually did that for my Explosives Gold badge.
Got on a 22/64 Titan map. Parked a AMV-2 in the PAC base, waited untill it was full, then *Boom* 6 Kills. YAY!
Or I chuck the APC/Tank, drive towards an enemy tank, active defense up ram them into a corner, get out *Boom*.

I love wasting valuable assets

Correction: 1-2 snipers can defend a flag by themselves.  Freeing up the ticket-reducing walker pilot to do bring death to another flag.  I prefer Assault or Engineer, but Recon snipers definitely have their place.  Especially in city maps.

While I do agree that MOST snipers are USELESS lone wolfs that hang out in remote locations looking for the "perfect headshot", I prefer to use the kit in a more active role.

I often play a Recon Sniper while acting as the Squad Leader for a full squad.  Using the UAV drone does WONDERS for the crew as we cap flags or negotiate urban terrain.  I can hang back and pick off outsiders while the squad puts constant pressure on the flag.

Plus, it's really fun to go ONE on ONE with some SPRAY AND PAY high-pinger at close range and...BOOM... headshot before he deals you 20 pts of damage.

Basic snipers are better; longer suppressive capability with the bigger clip, meaning you spend less time reloading and more time killing, plain and simple.  And with that said, a squad leader can get away with this oft-times very effectively if he is killing infantry threatening the silo/flag cappers in his own squad, while he covers the beacon as well.

When playing cerbere landing it's simple to defend the church with recon kit (EU side). Immediately after the round starts, place APMs near the entrances of the broken walls, then place RDX anywhere in the radius of the flag. THen run up north where that hill is, climb up that hill until you can't run up it anymore, then prone. You have a great view of the back of the church where the PAC will usually come through. YOu automatically get 2-3 kills from your APMs and can get some nice kills from detonating the RDX when the PAC is overtaking the church flag. Also, the default moretti sniper rifle has an advantage because of the 5 round capacity, thus, you can get more headshots and wound more enemies. If your team is helping you to defend that flag, you can get some kill damage assist points. That's why i prefer the moretti over the zeller because of the larger clip capacity and the faster reloading time.
