Apc's are one of the most versatile vehicles in the game, people think 'Ohhh apc's? not even, walk3r will ub3r p00n one" yes, this is true, if you sit there thinking you can destroy a walker. Not to mention the Titan assault capabilities.
Remember the APC whores on karkand? remember how many points they had? well now its your turn, and things sure have changed since what ever year BF2 is set in.
Lets start it off with both the different APC's.

This is teh BTR-4 Romanov, the PAC apc which respawns on almost every map.

Much people prefer this over teh AMV-2 Groundhog due to the passenger gunners can not be seen.

Personally, i like the BTR-4 better, but much prefer this due to the difficulty to see the mortar (F2 default) and where it is pointing.

As far as i know, the AMV-2 is wider than the BTR-4 and it seems to me that the AMV-2 is easier to see than the BTR-4 on maps with wide areas (Suez Canal).

Okey dokey, lets start with the main driver seat (F1 default) You are teh main man here, you kill, you EMP and you drive. Make sure you know where you are driving, and what you are doing, if you are a whore, try to squad-up with the player in the F2 seat. The main cannon is good, as it can take out infantry with ease, and if you are about to shoot a group, EMP them first so they get disoriented before they eat lead (or whatever bullets are made out of in 2142). Now that we are talking EMP, this is what makes APC's the big getaway vehicle, see a walker through the for of war? EMP him before he can see you. This also helps when disabling FAV's when they speed past you, EMP them, and get the F2 seater' to take em out. When you are up against a Nekomata (hover tank) EMP them before they can line you up, the nekomata is the bitch of all bihatchies against APC's.

Now for the F2 seat. Now, before i start with this, prepare to pwn all that stand in your way. I'm not kidding, this is the ultimate infantry killer, even more so than the L5-Reisig. This gun is so powerful, it might be put down in a new patch, the splash damage is insane in the membrane. Do demonstrate the splash, imagine a recon steal thing up to your APC. Now if the driver doesn't know about him coming up to stick you with RDX, well aim above him, aim as much as you can down, and shoot. I guarantee that he will be dead. Nuff said.
The mortar launches in bursts of 3 deelies, which if your cross hair is moved while shooting, you can control where they will land, taking multiple targets simultaneously, but this might take a bit of practice. But don't be fooled, this can't do a THING against armored vehicles (tanks=NO, apc's=NO, walker=NO, FAV=OH YEAH)
remember, walls don't matter, shoot just over the wall and you can kill a whole squad, getting a combat pin every 10 seconds. But remember to use the arch, you can shoot pretty far away, experiment shooting into a base from another, your bound to kill something, the splash damage takes care of that.

Now the gunners, you can't do much expert be the eyes behind the drivers head. Remember to spot what before you shoot, so if you miss a reckon, the driver can reverse over him and you wont get RDX'ed in the back.

Now for Defense. You know how a Single Pilum/Koenig shot will kill a tank in the back? well it will do only half damage to the back of an apc, which i think is kinda stupid. WHENEVER YOU SEE SOMEBODY GOING FOR one of those little railguns (korche or something) shoot him, those things are impossible to kill from the driver, due to him being protected from the main machine-gun. Get the F2-seater to shoot right next to it, so it kills him instantly, bit before you warn Mr.F2, move back behind cover, and call for an engineer. This will help for the engy to know you will be getting damage before you actually get shot.

Now for the whore section. Make sure to only do this on conquest.

Step 1. Stand around waiting for the APC to repawn. Make sure there are no more whores around, if there is, try to get towards where the front of the APC will spawn, this is where teh F2 gunner is.

Step 2. Drive to the enemy base, preferably in view of where they spawn.

Step 3. Move into the F2 seat, and annihilate ANYBODY who spawns, don't' worry about TK's, you will get the points you lost in about 3-4 seconds. DO NOT BAIL OUT no matter what, you can just come back with another APC.

Step 4. Place in oven and bake until golden-brown.

I guess thats about it, feel free to add comments and criticize, Karma would be v. appreciated.

Good guide, I've lost count of the number of APC kills I have from this kind of tactc (just from sitting there. Fall of Berlin FTW)

btw i usually shoot the mortar at the side of the railgun instead of directly at the railgun cos the railgun might shield the blast and the side is more exposed to the blast

The fun thing with the apc's on maps like Berlin and Belgrade, is that they are so occupied with blasting infantry, they forget about the Rorsch cannons.

The APC is also a good vehicle for breaking through a stalemate on those maps. Fill it up, EMP, active defense and get to the last flag with a whole squad.

But they are... (to put a not too fine point on it) dumb.

I NEVER leave the rorsch's. Always stay in a position where everyone is in FRONT of you so you can see EVERYTHING. That way no one can sneak around you without getting hammered by teammates.

I too fear for the imminent nerfing of the APC's F2 mortar/launcher/thingie. While that thing is rather ridiculous I don't think it's quite at overpowered status yet; there's still too many good ways to take it out (like any kind of armor) despite that silly active defense. Oh, and +1 for writing a guide; I personally didn't see anything new but I'm sure others did.

Dont forget if you have a smart commander like me who just looks at those filled apc's as coffins EMP+Orbital Strike=Kills Kills Kills and the keep coming back full everytime.
