I'm one for the littlebirds! If the ground vehicals category has heavy armor (tank) and light armor (apc), then why can't the air vehicals category have attack choppers (Cobra ect.) and light attack choppers? It would be just like desert combat!

i would love the A-10, it would feel good to actuly kill a tank with a plane, and the A-10's 20mm vulcan could rip anything apart (but you might have a few balance issueswith being able to take down any chopper in the sky (if a cannon can take a tank down, its just a few bursts away from taking down Blackhawks and AH-1Zs :\

If you wanted to as well, you could make the A10 louder so you know its coming - I know the A10 was much louder than any of the jets in DC.

It'd be fun if EA made a few new veichles in some maps, like they did for 1942. The A-10 sounds like a good option.

Here's a short info on the A-10.
1) Can survive direct hits from armor-piercing and high-explosive projectiles up to 23mm

2) Self-sealing fuel tanks are protected by fire-retardant foam.

3) The cockpit are protected by 900 pounds (400 kg) of titanium armor

4) The placement of the engines partially shields them from anti-aircraft fire behind the wings and tail

5) Can fly even after the loss of one side of the tail, 2/3 of a single wing, and one engine.

6) Ugraded with Pave Penny laser sensor (marked target seeker) pod that allowed the pilot to direct laser-guided bombs against targets marked by friendly forces. ((Snipers really do need a lser to "light armour up".

7) Primary built-in weapon: 30 mm GAU-8/A Avenger Gatling gun, which is thehe most powerful aircraft cannon ever flown. Fires large, depleted uranium armor-piercing shells at a rate of 4,200 rounds per minute.
4200! 4200 rounds! Woot!

8) Principal weapon of the A-10 is the AGM-65 Maverick air-to-surface missile, with electro-optical targeting + better range

9) Additional weapons include: cluster bombs, rocket pods (like the helos), conventional and laser-guided bombs, ECM pod (jams missiles) and two AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles. Will be ungraded to carry smart bombs.

10) In the 2003 defeat of conventional Iraqi forces, captured Fedayeen terrorists referred to the A-10 as "the Devil's Cross" a name that was also used for it in Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising (1986). Captured Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters referred to it as 'the silent gun'. The rounds hit their target before the target can hear the report of the gunfire.

What overkill. You can hear it, when you're dead, You can take out a engine, and he still has another engine and continues to fly. Fighter's can shoot it, but there's the two air-to-air missiles to worry about. The armour needs makes it so powerful that you can't blast it out with cannons and you can't even lock on with a damn Stinger! And they can bomb the crap outta the troops with 30MM CANNONS, GUIDED missiles, rockets and cluster bombs...900 gernades raining down on some very dead troops.

Estimated time EA will release A-10 on a map: 999999999999.9squared years.
Reason: Airplaning whoring would be unbearable and MEC and China would be complaining too much.

if they made the a-10 for bf2. then they would have to make a whole new map with tons of tanks, anti-air missile launchers. tons of fast dog fighting planes and tons of choppers. now that would be cool. but they would have to increase the defence of a tank.

the only problem with putting  the A-10 in BF would be that the MEC and CHina have no reasonable counterpart to it (F15 = Su-34, MiG29 = F35 = J10), and the probably unbeliveable whoreing that would occur with it...

Also, the A-10 is not a navy plane and therefore should under no circumstances be on an aircraft carrier, sorry too burst your Wake 07 idea :\

Actually A-10's can be on aircraft carriers. There was a video of one in Fox News during the beginning of the war in iraq, but the sad part is the A-10 will eventually be replaced by the f-16 which it has a 20mm gun instead of 30mm.

A-10's pwn... but of course, with all the bf2 whiners out there, it wouldnt last long. But a little is definately a good idea. A chopper that can quickly inset a squad at an LZ and get right outa there for some more. I remember 24/7 Lostvillage CTF... being a littlebird transport or slide-stealing the flags. Ah.... good times.

a-10's cannon
https://media.militaryphotos.net/photos/albums/johnnyh/aal.sized.jpg

its size

the round it fires

so basically, you have a minigun, minus the 6 passengers that want to fire it, and wine bottle sized bullets.

TALK ABOUT SPLASH DAMAGE!!!

remember, that's depleated uranium wine bottles... you can shoot up an enemy flag at the beginning of the round, and still at the end it will be damaging them.

I also read (or heard) somewhere that the Vulcan minigun cant be used for long periods (like 10 secs bursts), or else the A-10 loses too much speed, stalls, and then crashes.......
