I have a friend who has this question: what are the benefits of using 1600x1200 over 1280x1024 in BF2? (this is a 20 inch LCD screen)

It's harder on your video card when you crank it up to 1600, if that's what you're getting at. But yeah, like the confused pothead said, sharper images.
