Bringing Sexy Back

Hi guys earlier tonight I created a thread earlier asking about budget PCI cards and I meant to say AGP 8x cards I wondered why I got a mixed response lol.

In short I cant afford to make a new gaming rig 'til next year with the current overheads that I have

I'm willing to spend around or over £100 to tide me over on a new or used card until I can afford a good machine.

My current graphics card is over 2 years old and shows it.

I would just like to be able to play in a 64 man server with medium settings without too much hassle and would like to know if anyone else uses these older cards and can play games i'm not expecting anything spectacular just mediocre.

Thanks in advance and sorry for confusing people in the last thread .

The 6800 128mb will run you fine on High/Mid.

My 3rd pc Is 8XAGP with 1 gig Ram. BFG 6800gtoc .It runs Med @1024x768 well on 32. 64 man really strains it though.

if you are really looking for a new gfx card i would suggest looking for a used gf 6800. buying a new apg card is pretty expensive for the performance they give

As with the other hundreds of thread on this subject, you will get a different response for every post.  Nvidia ati, Evga Asus, it is just preference.

Google "Best AGP card" and you will get a bunch of sites (Tom's Hardware.com) with full benchmark, reports, etc.

My 2 cents: I have an Asus N6800XT (128mb DDR). Even with all the pipelines unlocked I can't run BF2 on high settings, and barely on medium. I run it on low-medium settings (1024x768, no AA, 100% view distance, high geometry, med lighting and shadows). I have a 2.4ghz P4 with 2GB ram. I don't know if it's the card or the CPU holding me back, but I'm disappointed with my 6800XT. It was pretty cheap though...

PNY 6800 GT 256 mb?  It ran on all high 4x AA at 1600 x 1200, frame rates from 30s-40s, dipping into the teens occasionally if it was really hot in my room.  That was with 2 GBs of ram and an AMD 3000+...  my brother still uses it and it works fine.

I remember researching this a few weeks ago. The X800 Pro's a pretty good choice, for $120.

Supplies on alot of this are running low, and the price is only going to kick up. I've thought of stocking up on at least 2 spare AGP cards for my older systems, in case something goes out (one of them is forced to run on GeForce2).
