yeah, I am far from having anything close to being considered "best" or even "slightly better," but I'll post my ride here: it's a '93 5-speed manual Honda Civic sedan... been looking through the original paperwork, still can't find where the hell it mentions how much horsepower it has... anyways, here's a pic (again, far from best):

The best bet is to find an auto importer on the west coast.  Find a dealer on ebay that sells skylines, holdens etc and they may be able to put you in the right direction.  They can also tell you how to get it converted for US DOT standards.
Your best bet kracker is gettint one imported to Canada to start off with. My Uncle's friend imports stuff from asia and what not for a living, last time I heard, he had a Nissan 350z with after market engine and wheel upgrades (don't remember the details). Steering was on the right though, but that's besides the point. He can usually get by with shipping it down to the states as long as the buyer is willing to pay for modifications needed before shipping.

Edit:  Just incase you guys want to know, it is a 2001 Chevy S-10 Xtreme.  Had a V6 4.8 liter, was lowered 6 inches, alloy rims and a ground kit installed on it.  All of that was from the factory.  I put in a K&N Air Filter.  On top of that I put in two 12 inch Roxford Fosgate Punch P1s, with a 250 watt MTX Thunder Amp.  That thing had a lot of bass.  With my Pioneer, I would bounce the bed liner, and moved the back window about an inch.  I loved that truck.

Slayi, the F-Astra fails in corrosion prevention. They fixed it in the G-Astra (aka MK VII), the car I , Fruitloops hairdresser, and now also E7IX3R, the poor sod drives.
