I can pick my 8800 up tommorow,  and i have a few questions allready.
I now own a x1900xtx by ATI  wich gives me a 6xAA option in BF2,   i know that a Nvidia card only gives a 4xAA option in BF2. (not 100% sure on the 8800 though )
Now i also know you can change this in the card itself, trough the nvidia software and not let a game decide what level of AA.
If  i set it on 16xAA instead of application controlled,   will the games actually look any better,  and does this AA actually work?.
Because when i try this with my x1900xtx,  i dont see any difference,  and my FPS stays the same.
So im hoping this will work with the 8800, or else im stuck with less AA the before

Can you still see jagged edges when you set your AA to 16x?

The same as when set on 6xx in-game,  but maybe its the monitor,  i recently bought a 20" TFT and play on 1600x1200,   before the TFT i played on a 19" CRT also on 1600x1200,  so maybe its just the somewhat larger pixels.
I think ill just wait and see what happens when i got the card up and running,  and do some tests,  i think i will be allright .

Let the card control the AA not the BF2 application. You can take it much higher then 4xAA. Which you already know this.

There are some pictures here of someone using 1600x1200 16AA 16AF:

i know i can take it much higher,   but like i said,  the quality is the same,  and also my FPS is exactly the same as with 6xAA.
But i'm gonna try tommorow... can't wait.

In those pics it sure looks a little better. I have to check when I get home if I have that much detail with the uniforms. I might have to turn in the 7950GX2 soon. =P

Going from a X1900xtx to a 8800 is mad, if I was you I would wait atleast 2 years....

Or you can give me your old card *hint*.

Oh, and the 8800 is the first nVidia card to do HDRI and AA at the same time, woot.

.
And then what,   trow my old parts away?.    nobody wants a x1900xtx in 2008 /2009.
if you keep your parts updated,  you can sell your old stuff for good money.

And i want to see what DX10 can do    A.S.A.P.

On an 8800?

That'd be strange.

when i run at 16x sli aa it is insanely smooth. So jaggies = none. Regarding in game questions, i just use the nvidia control panel to control sli. Hope that helps

I used to do 2x AA on my 9600 just fine.  Turned it off and set the screen reolution to 1024x768 instead since it has roughly the same effect for that part of the picture.

It took me ages (I say ages, really it was only a couple of minutes, but long enough for me to get pissed off) to find the setting to force 16x AA. I don't like Nvidia's new drivers. I prefered the old interface. Why don't they let you enable it on the icon in the system tray? I tried that first and it only had options up to 4x.

Most frustrating.

I have the card installed now,  and the AA settings are fine,   when i set it to 16 x or even 8x,   it looks way better as before,   there's only one thing that isn't good.
When i open up the console  with the "grave" button,  i cant read anything,  it looks like the words are to thin.
The pencel width is smaller.
I tried everything,   but i cannot get it to show properly.
any idea's?

Unfortunately I believe that can only be changed by changing the resolution.

But with my x1900xtx i also ran on 1600 x 1200,  and i didn't have the problem then.
but its not that bad,  i macro'd all the things i type  with my g15.
But damn that 8800 is powerfull,  i can clearly see my cpu and ram is bottlenecking now.
So i cant wait to receive my C2D en dominator RAM
