I would say it's your main system bus.  You graphics card can only pump data as wide as your bus, so there is a limit.  We need to get some optical buses before we continue to upgrade in video.

Also check your score with 06 not 05 and let us see. That 05 score seemed a bit low.

im gonna try 3dmark06 within the hour,  but first i got to fix the drivers again,   because when i try to install newer drivers,  the system hangs,   just where its about to Recognize the graphic card.
so im stuck with the 97.02 drivers.

And i don't think i did a bad purchase,   perhaps it was better to get the C2D and Ram first,   ah well,  like i said,  gonna buy that in february.

A bit low IMO. I think it's your cpu that is the bottleneck =/

your cpu is bottle-necking your performance thats for sure (ram also may be a factor)

http://tomshardware.co.uk/2006/11/29/ge … st_cpu_uk/

read this it may help with the whole AMD vs INTEL ,if you re running purely a games machine the intel advantage is not so huge and you may be able to max out the motherboard you haves performance which wont lead to spending load to replace CPU, RAM and MOBO . but if you are surrounded by heaps of cash the E6600 and some overclocking should bring the overall price of a complete change down a little (the money you save over X6800 spend on a bit of cooling and still have change for loads of cheeseburgers)

hope that helps

cpu is bottlenecking if you have a 8800gtx

if yon a a64 you needa to at least be at 2.8ghz

my x24400 is at 2.7 and 1 mb of cache it should be enough, but im waiting a few months till the GTX is 300 bucks

you know when the 8900 comes out! lol

i have two 7900GT's in sli plenty fast, but i know in march when i install vista im gonna want moreeee

So its just a bottleneck then , en not a faulty card?.
Because with the slightest doubt i will RMA it.

My x800GTO doesnt lag period. Consistent 67FPS, so dont tell me a x1900 would lag in an arty strike.
It does, I had a 1900 and a 7950.

I push a constant 100FPS with a 7900GTO overclocked.

if you know anyone with a FAST cpu put the card in their machine and benchmark again, but dude that cpu is not fast enough for the card, its meant for a top spec machine i wouldnt even pair 8800 with a 4000+ unless some heavy overclocking had been done, if you can afford an fx60(if your board is 939) that would iron out alot of problems for you, but a conroe and new motherboard would be the best bet at the moment. but look at my previous link, read it through and you will understand you have a very powerful card that NEEDS the support of a VERY fast cpu.

It's very low man, I am scoring twice that. I know other components come into play but most of the work lies on the gpu which are the same.

Pretty graphics FTW. Can your card play on all high 99FPS with 16X AA? Don't think so.
No but I can play all high w/ 67FPS w/ 4x AA. And if you can show me a huge difference between 4x AA & 16, then please do. With the right supporting hardware a 9800XT can max out BF2, I have seen people do it.
I doubt the textures created by a x1900 compared to a x800GTO are really that much better. Im sure there better, but I bet barely.

So dont give me that whole zomg I need 99FPS to enjoy the game & 16x AA. Take your head out of ur ass.

I have core 2 duo E6300, 2GB RAM.

I really couldn't wait till february now im almost confident its my cpu/ ram combo that bottlenecking,  so i ordered the parts an hour ago.
Didn't have all the money to go for the dominator ram,  but instead ive ordered 2gb OCZ PC6400 cas4.
If the 3dmark scores stay low after the upgrade, i will RMA it.
I will make an update after i get the parts.

Check my Xfire profile thingy to see. Well, I'm just saying there would be absolutely no lag for probably an entire year.

Last week i noticed my 8800gtx didn't heat up,  even after playing for several hours.
So could that be an indication something is wrong with this thing.
I dont have all the new parts yet,  so i can't test the card with a E6600,   but im leaning towards a faulty card.
Yesterday i had some bad artifacting while playing,  and sometimes my fps lowers to about 28 fps for no reason.
I heard the 8800 runs pretty hot normally,  but mine wont go over 65 celcius stressed?????????.
Should i return it?

Well, that your GPU don't heat up properly and that your fps stay low indicates, that something with your software configuration might be wrong. The card doesn't necessarily need to be faulty, it could aswell be something else in your configurations that limits the power of that 8800GTX.
Are you sure, you connected two power cables to your card?

Yes,   and i even tested the psu with a multimeter,   12.10 V stressed, and it has a 32A rating on the 12v rail.
I just heard i can pick up the remaining parts tommorow.   so maybe some better news in the next couple of days.
