Hello.

I recently got BF2: Special Forces for christmas, and I installed it and everything was going fine until i clicked the shortcut. When I clicked the shortcut it said "cannot find BF2.exe" or something of the sort, and asked me to find it, so I did but it just started up regular BF2, and when I click multiplayer to see if I can play the special forces maps, the program just shuts off. I was wondering if you knew what was wrong? The only thing I can think of is either a virus or possibly that my BF2 that I bought back in July is PCDVD and the Special Forces exp pack is PCCD. I did not think this would be a problem but I guess I'm stuck if it is. And it also doesn't have any folder for Special Forces (or maybe I can't find it) but I don't see anything about special forces in my EA GAMES folder, just regular BF2. Thanks.

P.S. I asked EA Help and the response was strange, but I'll copy and paste it here:

No. That seems like a crock of shit to me. I'll try it if everything else doesnt work, but I would like some advice from players first.

what i would do is install bf2 first then bf2:SF. i had a problem with bf2 a while back where i would load into a map and my mouse would be stuck centered on the map... i couldnt move it. i did a complete uninstall (including profiles) reinstalled and it now works fine. make sure you uninstall everything because first time i tried i didnt uninstall profiles and still had same problem.

Right click on your BF2:SF shortcut and choose proporties and make sure the target is set to:

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/xpack +ignoreAsserts 1

and that start in is set to:

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2"

Edit:

EA is gay, theres no need to reinstall the game because of a broken short cut rofl.

Install BF2, then patch it with 1.03, then install BF2:SF, then install 1.12 and do that ^^^ if reinstall didnt fix it.

You may not even need to patch it to 1.03 after the initial BF2 install, installing BF2:SF may patch it for you, but its a safe route.

If you uninstalled your game, then re-install ALL patches, IN ORDER in which they were released.

i would just install the most recent patch seeing as it patches over other patches but thats the uneducated opinion of a teen

I would also assume this as well, though from my experience, some applications like to make you belive this by patching it without you knowing to every patch in order (like World of Warcraft), so to be safe I would do it in order, 1.03, sf, 1.12.

Its up to you though, if it doesnt work start from square 1, but I, personally, would take the chance of skipping 1.03 just to save myself alot of time. I've never had to do this before so I can't say whether or not there'd be a problem if you skipped a patch when installing with BF2 that is.
