The funny thing is sometimes I try to fly a chopper, and somone with a really high rank gets on the pilot seat, and they don't even know how to do a basic barrel roll to dodge missiles. Also, they fly past shit and ignore it. I don't even do choppers and I'm probably better than the average pubbing pilot/gunner

The whole idea of the ranks is that people don't start over and create new accounts for whatever reason so you can see the amount of skill a person has (to a degree) by their rank.
I for one like my stats, it's a nice part of the game, it gives you a purpose and doesn't make it just another meaningless shooter *coughcounterstrikecough*.

I had just this situation the other day. I am on Wake waiting for USMC chopper to spawn. 2 High rankers show up and stand with me. Was expecting team kill. Didn't happen. I was lucky enough to get the gunner seat at spawn. Then I hear a constant: Bail out!, Bail out!, Hop out!. I have never flown with this guy before, so he doesn't know if I can gun or not. He then proceeds to do barrel role after barrel role and various other maneuvers over the carrier while spamming Bail out!. Then he crashes into the side of the carrier during one of his "tricks". I figured that was going to be a trend if I tried for the chopper again, so I spawn South Base and ground pound the rest of the round.
The next few minutes were filled with him telling me how he knew I was not a good gunner because of my rank. Now I know someone will be sure to check my stats, so I am the first to say I don't have good stats for Chopper yet. I am practicing, and have been piloting more than gunning. He then tells me to go practice in single player first.
The point is, I have practiced in single player and empty servers. I have taught myself to shoot very well with TV and can now solo. I wouldn't consider myself good enough to win every dogfight with another good chopper crew, but I can hold my own now.
Why can't some people just be given a chance. I know what all you are going to say: "It is not worth picking up every NOOB on the chance 1 out of 100 has taken the time to practice and become at least decent." I am just frustrated because I have put in the time and feel ready to be given more chances to prove myself.

i think it all comes down to whether you care or not to win the round. i hate being on the carrier, watching 40 people waiting for a damn plane/heli, while our team gets smoked. i know i am not a good pilot or gunner, so the only time i hop in the heli/plane is when no one is around... hell, i've stolen the f-18 on wake and landed it on the carrier, just to hop out so someone better than me can use it. (which is pretty much everyone in the game) people are like, are u seriously giving up that plane? it's hilarious because i really don't give a shit, and i want to win... if two guys are waiting on the pad for the heli, so what? let em have the chopper, because they will probably help your team win. TK'ing for a plane is just completely stupid. i was sure you get 2x points for winning so the way i see it, getting 20 points for ground pounding and winning is greater than getting 35 for flying and losing.
