Forgive the horrible joke

Average price I see for an E6700 is around the $500 mark.  AMD's new FX-70 comes in for $599 (from what I read), so basically ladies and jellyspoons, what would you take and why?  I read on here and many a form the Intel vs AMD battle, I am not really interested in anyone’s biased opinions (nor are most of the community I should think) based on the raw facts and figures from benchmark test's, what would you take?

Appreciate when you choose an option to say why if you please, (we all love pie so no points there )

I was going to get the QX-6700 Intel but the thing is just FAR to expensive, and although in my sig it is listed and the machine is due around march, with the problems mounting on my ailing Pentium 4, I am actually really needing a new machine ASAP.  Although since I am a cheap skate I won’t be getting this for Christmas, but a January delivery is increasingly looking more and more likely for me.

Both processor's marks are listed in red here:

AMD is the clear winner, but as is the way with these things I would think it is not quite as simple as that, so please your thoughts would be appreciated.

But ffs try and stay away from the Intel vs AMD battle it is embarrassing when that starts up!

Thanking you

I am so getting the fx-72 instead of upgrading my old Computer. i will simply buy a new mobo 4 my old comp and put the 5000+ in there and my old x1600Pro for my brother rather then giving him a whole new computer i will give him somthing half decent he might have to upgrade to DX10 card and more ram him self but big deal

3d mark is not a good comparison for cpu test. You need to look at the encoding test to see how it performs. And when you do you can clearly see my chip out performs even the quads .

Until the software catches up it will be very hard to beat the 6800. For the most part we haven't seen too many programs utilizing even Dualies.

The new FX cpus coming out are nothing new to the present AM2 FX62.  Still 90nm.  Higher clock speed, same L2 cache, the only different is the socket.

sounds look the p4 scenario w/ higher clock speed being better, but that's different

Im buying a E6600 in feb.

The new FX-7 series CPU from AMd dont appeal to me, i have used amd for years and grown to rely on them more than intel, but looking at the new benchmarks, intel clearly take the lead.

As far as i know, to get the quad core tech from these FX7 series cpu's, you need to buy TWO of them, again, correct me if im wrong but i have read this somewhere.

So for the quad cores, intel win again it seems

6700 all the way. Firstly, because the Intel is based on new process's of manufacturing, its power requirements are lower and the heat output is less. You will still be able to upgrade the Intel down the road even if you only need to do a Bios flash. Dollar for Dollar(or whatever) the intel is much more advanced Tech than the AMD solution. I am an AMD user and was waiting for AMD's answer to the Intel chips. Im sorry to say im very saddened that they cant come up with something better and atleast Built useing there new fabs.

My unbias Opinion since im running AMD and would love to still, Id go for the Intel.

The majority of people on here are gamers!!!  honestly...... so if you set the bench marks for all the game tests the E6700 comes out on top each time....( and I love AMDs )

So if I was buying new I would have to go E6700 .....

Any idea when that will be?  I have no problem's hanging back a little while if there going to be far superior, though if it's over six months away for me atleast there ruled out...

The 65' that is, or even if someone could explain to me what difference that would make, more efficient or something like that perhaps?
