Vista 64 bit will support more RAM than 32 bit.

Uh. 64-bit is backwards compatible to 32-bit. Just like all the other Windows were backwards compatible to 16-bit. Get 64 now and save having to buy a second Vista when all the games go to 64bit. And you don't need Business, Home Basic is poo, and Ultimate is Home Premium+Business+mod-cons-you-won't-use.

64..

The 32bit version supports a maximum of 4GB of RAM and the 64bit version supports up to either 256+GB of RAM or the maximum physically supported amount of RAM that can be placed on the motherboard.

If you want to read detailed information about Vista you should visit Paul Thurrott's website.

Crysis is forcing me too.  As soon as I'm able to get Vista, a cheaper-than-$600 DX10 card, and the rest of a computer, I'm all over it like Spawn on Hard Gay.

I'm not going to upgrade for around a year.  I'm just going to let everyone else work the bugs out.  You're not going to need it for gaming for probably a year anyway, and I saw a post today about a third party workaround so that you can use directX10 with windows XP...

home premium is what you probabely should get. basic is pretty basic and ultimate is probably overkill (though i will probs get that). if i remember correctly they ship the 32 bit and 64 bit version on the same disk, so that you can decide when you install

Haha imagine having 256GB of ram.

I'd say 64bit, you should be fine for right now.  You will definitely need to upgrade in the future, depending on your needs (gaming/graphics vs. general use).

I may be mistaken, but I thought DX10 was going to be available for XP?

That's DX 9.0L Which is not true DX10. DX10 is only for vista because of some GUI thingy with the windows.

32 and 64 bit will be included with ALL copys of Vista. The only problem with this is going to be drivers. Ill link you to an article that explains this in depth.

Please read. and you will see what im talking about. Now also remember, depending on your Motherboard AND the Codec or chip your sound is useing, with 64 Bit operating ayatem AC97 sound will NOT work anymore. ASrock is the First Motherboard company to be Officially Vista certified. They are a cheaper part of asus but the boards are fantastic. Ive owned 2 so far and the upgrade options are fantastic. Especially when most of there boards are either upgradeable to newer sockets or they can run either AGP(4x/8x) And include PCIExpress 16 slot for upgrade.

heres a link: http://www.asrock.com/news/20061107.html

Im pretty sure they will have Intel boards of the same also.

I was wondering when some one was going to point that out.  Everyone seems to forget the little things that we have taken for granted for so long.  The 64-bit OS uses different drivers, so best make sure that all your components have 64-bit capable drivers.
